WD-40 is faster than any wasp killer I've tried, when they're flying around the garage. Little messy, though. Brought a car home from an outside storage unit, and the next day there were what looked like hundreds of yellow jackets flying around the garage. Walked away, locked the door, and let them simmer in the summer heat for a week.
Should have taken pics of the dead bodies that were all over the place after that.
Found a dead spider in there that was so big, I propped him up on a board, positioned him as good as possible, spray bombed him with clear to preserve him, and staged him on the roof of the car. Months later, as his legs started falling off, I had to retire him, but that was after scaring a few friends with him. I'm positive that the sight of him kept all the other damn critters out of the garage.
All true, and another worthless post of mine.

Nice! Burning brake cleaner creates phosgene gas. Look it up.

As for a safe way to get rid of bugs, I **** them up in my shop vac. I recently opened up some seat upholstery to find a huge nest of carpenter ants inside. Instead of poisoning myself, I vacuumed them up.

You're not scaring me, I don't care if you eat that $hit for lunch. You might want to consider not giving such bright ideas to your readers though.....

Holy smokes... I mean hydro carbons.. Do not take it so personally... and if readers are dumb enough to use that "idea" well....

  10. Just a quick tip for the wasps.
If they start to attack you, and you can't get away, if you flap your arms, or move about, they will attack more.
Staying very still is the key, as they prefer moving targets.

Thanks....as many times as I've been stung, one would think I'd figure that out!...LOL....I guess screaming and running doesn't help either!....I have to keep my garage doors open in summer months to work on my cars ...and the bees simply settle inside. I've cut down the flowering bushes nearby, and thought that might do the job, but they still come buzzin' around. I'll shut the doors one day, and then the next day, swarms are everywhere inside ....so I gotta do something, such as a bug-bomb....hate to, but not sure what else to do at this point. At least the Wasp spray seems to work when I find a new nest....nasty ******s!!!

Just light off a couple of cans and let it sit for a couple of days to air out......You'll be fine. Interior /garage, and storage...... Your interior isn't going to kill you in a couple of days! Plus- those who worry- every buy an old car? What has gone on in there before you owned it? Way More things in this world to kill you! You'll be fine! Nuke Em"!

  13. Bugs Schmugs, I wouldn't like to breathe all that toxic **** in, just think-if it kills the bugs, what's it doing to your guts? I have about a dozen red-backs living in my shed, along with a few big huntsmen. Never have any flies or mozzies in there. The spiders only come out in the dark, when I'm not there, so I don't care. You are a lot bigger than them, when they see you, they **** themselves first! I'll only knock one off when they get in my boots!

I got some bug bombs when my wife and I moved into our first house and found some old evidence of roaches.

Our previous rental had them bad and I was going to take ZERO chances. I bombed every room in the house and left for a day.

Surprisingly very little dead bugs afterward but no bug problems since.

Lowes sells them in 3 packs. I think theyre weaker than they mightve been back in the day.

I'll set one off in the garage outside the car

I bought an off topic 240sx Nissan with a 10 foot tall wing and all the rice burner works...
The previous owner got attacked by brown recluse spiders in the car and had to have his leg amputated...
I set off 4-5, whatever comes in a bug box in the car...
I never saw a living thing around that car... Lots and of dead spiders though... Like hundreds...
Pulled the 383 stroker with Muncie m22 and enjoyed crushing what was left...

Got to know the chemical dealer for exterminators while doing some work on rental houses. I use exterminator grade perimeter spray on the shop and bug bomb once / year. Cover the cars with drop cloth and roll down the windows.

for wasps/yellowjackets/hornets get wasp traps that use a pheromone attractant - usually a clear yellow containers that they go into and can not get back out of - place them away building doors, etc.

My Ford came from out west and had been sitting somewhere for a long time. But I dove right into it, on 4 jack stands and started pulling the brakes apart. Spider NESTS all in the drums, behind the backing plates and between the frame and body. I got bit on my right hand in 3 places, luckily it wasn't that bad, just inflamed and had a couple of small holes that healed slow.
Hit the whole dealie with a pressure washer. The amount of **** that washed out was impressive. Under the dash.. mud dauber nests. When I took the dash out, even more. The defroster duct was loaded with them. Luckily nobody was home in those.

When I brought my coupe inside after sitting outside for like 25 Years a bunch of spiders hatched and made huge webs all inside the car and in the garage. There must have been 1000 of them. I shut the pilot light off on the heater and used 2 bug bombs from Lowes. Came back 2 days later. Killed them all. I take spider bites very seriously. I got bit by a little house spider and ended up getting Cellulitis. That infection put me in the hospital for 4 days on IV antibiotics. My leg took a year to heal up completely. The skin is still a little funny there even after 2 years. Coupe jungle.jpg Garage Beginning.jpg

After 37 yrs in pest control,i once treated a brand new car for ants that had been sitting in tall gr*** at the dealerships back lot. Also a few customers motorhomes for spiders and ants. The only old cars were mine and on occasion,a black widow would come down towards me and get a quick bath in wd40-which always did the job! (hehe). Exterminator

This is what I used inside the house before I moved in and plan on using in the garage today.

Mud dauber nests.....I have a bunch, luckily vacant. Lots of dead bumble bees behind my hubcaps.

I'll open the doors, hood and trunk and let it go to town.

OK, so it wasn't you. It was your neighbor burning brake cleaner, or not, because you then said you copied the picture off the 'net.

Anyway, either way, all us guys need to know that burning brake or carburetor cleaner is really really bad for you. Worse than spiders.

I have these spiders around.. red-brown, hairy and big. They are engineers... string up these huge webs at night and take them down in the morning. I was walking by my pool early one morning and got mixed up in one, had to dive in the pool to get the web off me. 8 hours later I have this round welt high on my forehead about the size of a quarter. Go to the doctor, got a tet**** shot, anti-biotic injection, steroid injection and an anti-biotic prescription. It went down in a week but the spot was discolored and dark for months after.
