My fan shroud is all done. Time to add it to the stack of things that need to get painted. A big thank you goes to my buddy Robbie. He welded it up for my. I wish I was able to weld aluminum.

Since the car starts body work next week I have nothing to do but the little tedious things. I wanted to use an air cleaner that has an old look but hides the four barrel carb. I went with a 60's Chevy style. Plus since the generator is on the left side of the block I wanted the snorkel to balance the right side.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1456196954.839253.jpg

The opening for the carb needed to be made bigger so I used some round rod and sheet metal to accomplish that. I used that pipe for my templet.

I'm happy with how it turned out. I wire wheeled it cleaner but I will sand blast it next week. I ran out of time today. Then it gets put in the pile for paint. My painter is going to love me. Lol

    Middle - Hudson
    Right - Lyons

Dimensionally the Lyons on the left and hudson in the middle are identical.
The Lyons on the right is different to this Lyons.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1458095887.386430.jpg
But I believe is the same as the Hudson, except the crest in the centre.

    Hope that all makes sense.

  14. The Lyons on the right is again very similar to a 1950 Lincoln except the crest.

To make it more confusing there are these Lyons caps too, which I quite like.

They thing that bugs me about the Hudson ones is that hard line that's punched in them. (If that makes sense). The car is so round I don't know if that line will bug me. I do like them. So if I can't find the Lyon caps they're a great choice.

Thank you for all of your help and input. You've taught me a lot.

  17. Yeah totally agree about the hard line of the hudson caps.

Thanks, I've learnt and been inspired by you're build a heap.

No secret. I hate it when guys do that. It's going to be a dark solid blue. It has a hue of grey in it.

Before you get too far, have you thought about rounding that rear hood corner?

Hey cretin, yes I agree with you. The reason it isn't rounded is because my buddy Robbie is making me some kustom side trim that goes down the side right at the bottom of the hood and continues down the side. So it should hide and make a smooth transition down the side of the cawl.
Right now it throws my eyes off as well. A rounded car with a hard angel never looks right. But once the trims done it will look 100% better.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. Have a great day.

    I see. That makes sense.
I hadn't even considered the possibility of trim.
Can't wait to see it with the trim.
    Keep up the good work.

I finally scored some 15" caps that are in mint condition. They even still have the parts number stamp on the inside.

Another piece of the puzzle found.
