I don't think I've seen your pickup, have you posted it? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...but-hopefully-different.966818/#post-10916545
Nice Truck, HB! I didn't see your thread until just now. Read through the whole thing. I like what you're doing with the truck! Seems that we have some thoughts in common about what to do or not to do. I don't plan on paint, or major metalwork. Hell, I'm not even converting to hydraulic brakes (mine work just fine). I would like to add an overdrive, and I'm going to do some engine work. I'm also going to reverse eye front and rear springs. It needs wiring since generations of mice devoured the original. The beginning of the thread has "as found" pics. I've posted some others here as well. I also just got notified yesterday that I'll be in the American Graffiti show and parade here in Petaluma! First show for my truck!
Looks fantastic and definitely in nicer shape then my pile of parts. Can you post some engine as well as interior pics? Thanks
Sorry about that; the one I have is about 3-1/2 or 4". I'll check at my shop today and see whether I can find a number for it.
OK, I checked mine at my shop today. It's 5" in diameter, painted black. It looks just like this one, but it's flat, not convex. They're about 10 bucks. For some reason, the NAPA website lists 6 or 8 convex ones and no flat ones. Seems to me that if you took this info to your local NAPA store, they could find it for you. Good luck. http://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/LIT97611
I love your truck; everything is perfect. They're pretty non-existent in that condition over this way. You're very fortunate that your cousin gave it up. Keep the pics coming.
Thanks! "gave it up" might be a bit misplaced. He has basically "loaned" me the truck. I get it for 8-10 years, and can do what I want with it. I'm sure I'll be moving on to something else before I get that far out. When I decide I don't want it any more, he gets "first right of refusal" and pays me what I've got into it to get it back. If he doesn't want it, I get to keep it, sell it, whatever. We did the same deal on the '50 Ford and the '44 Jeep we did before the truck. Worked out pretty good on those cars. Let's hope it works out as well on the truck... But, the '50 Ford and the '44 Jeep belonged to his grandfather. The '34 that I have now belonged to his father. He was much more resistant to letting go on this one, and I feel VERY fortunate and blessed to have this opportunity (shhh, he might be reading this...)
I also am just about to buy these. Since the Sharp heads that I had checked out didn't check out, I was on the hunt again. Found this Edmunds intake with 2X 97's and the Edelbrock heads. Did not buy the Tattersfield...not sure I like that look for my truck yet. The seller also had the Edumnds heads shown in the picture with the mani, but they were different (logos in different places) so I passed on those, even though I like those better than the Edel's. Now trying to decide if I swap these out before my show and cruise in May, or wait until after...
Not necessarily the mirror head but more the stem. Managed to find 2 and sold the second one. One just went on epay for $315 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1932-Ford-p...ash=item51df67e8f1:g:DdgAAOSwJb9WqYIC&vxp=mtr I should have held out.
Question for y'all...I purchased the "seal" that goes around the steering column and pedals. The holes that seal against the pedals are small. How do I get this thing over the pedals? I tried to remove the pedals from the swing arms, but can't figure out how they come off. Do I have to take the swing arms off their mount? Do I slit the seal and just slide over the swing arms? I'm confused...
Thanks Nobey. I'll give it a shot. I tried with my pipe wrench, but they didn't seem to want to move...bigger hammer, I guess...
