  1. Yes, a 9 x 28-30"er will hook your '56 Chevy chase car. ;)

Sounds like those extinguishers work really well.
If you have one you will never have nor see a fire.

  3. Norb, most of the ET's use a spun aluminum drum, polished front & back, so they are nicer/lighter than cast drum Americans. You would probably wait for a year for custom Americans.

Thanks for the advise and leads guys, Going to a smaller tire and rim:rolleyes:

Did some measuring and research, going to a smaller standard rim backspace because of cost .
    This is what I found.

    PS Engineering Vintage Wheels
    Kidney Bean style could be made to 10 x 15 x 7 1/2 backspace @ $ 495.00 ea.
TA 1 ( Torque thrust style ) cant be made with 7 1/2 backspace so priced a
    8 x 15 x 4 3/4 backspace TA 1 @ $475.00 ea.

    E-T wheels 8 x 15 x 4 3/4 backspace @ $379.00 ea.

Summit said only Torque Thrust II could be made with custom backspacing.

    Found at Jegs
    American Racing Torque Thrust D
    8 x 15 x 4 1/2 backspace ( 2 blemished ) @ $148.99 ea. ( bought em cause I am cheap )
and 5" is on the front.
I can go up to 30" tall with 13" sectional, (still researching tires) but ( 8" rim ) will limit tire size.

  7. a lot of guys put too big of a tire on their car. they think they are somehow giving up traction if they dont. a large tire can never make up for a poorly designed suspension. the car will usually run faster with a properly sized tire and that's usually smaller than they had planned on. watching a ten inch tire race is all you need to do to be convinced of that. those guys are deep in the eights. they spend time testing and adjusting their suspensions because there is a lot of et there. while most guys devote all their time to the engine.

  9. you don't get ink or chicks when you loose. just laughed at. just saying.

I always thought it was a 4 to 1 ratio on wheels.

Now you got me thinking. o_O

    Thanks

  12. On a mopar website, huh?... that's II FUNNY... :D

Sure, sprung vs. unsprung weight typically won't affect acceleration, but inertia of rotating components makes a huge difference. Take 10 lbs outta the wheels and relocate that same 10 lbs to a part of the car that doesn't rotate and the ET goes down.

But putting the wrong wheels on, that gets you an appointment with the 'Wheel Nazi'...

What do you think about using a heavy flexplate or flywheel?, bracket racing we put on the heavier flexplate
called ( The Wheel ) @ about 4 lbs it seemed to smooth down the 60 ft making the car more consistent.

Always wanted to try drilling and tapping a heavy clutch flywheel for a torque converter.
with a 5500 stall launch something is gonna happen?

  14. im a huge fan of a heavier flywheel. light weight flywheels don't work on most cars. it takes a car with huge power to make a light one work.

  15. A heavier flywheel is a totally different story than heavier rims.

A heavier flywheel can store more energy, but a lighter flywheel accelerates faster with the same torque input. Circle track racers all know a lighter flywheel helps them come off the corners faster. Its all about inertia...

On a stick or transbrake car revving the engine higher before the light turns green puts more energy into it - energy that is then used to help launch the car. Jeff can tell ya all about stored energy: ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1452867751.359658.jpg

Jeff tried to send his stored energy to his rear end and his rear end said NO VACANCY!!! and then spit a bunch of parts at him!

Marc that is right...all of us Midwest guys have rear-ends that so "No Vacancy"...unlike the left coast guys who have flashing signs saying "room for more"....

Hey! Anybody seen or heard from Scott since his last post. I am little worried about him. I just found this photo....It looks like an extremely off topic MOPAR might have just taken him out!

With that gay looking monster face on the front, double gay lights in the fake hoodscoop, and dragging around 4500lbs,the only thing that steaming pile of shit would beat up on,is it's owner's self esteem.
