  1. It was then. A much simpler time, and a much simpler life.

  2. One of my favorite cities. Lived there in the late '70s and intend to move back in the near future.

  3. Oh, no! There's the Hotel California behind the store. "You can check in, but you can never leave!"

Is there any So Cal folks from the Alhambra, San Gabriel area, early 1950's, that remember a gas station with a round sign similar to this one with a merry go round theme??? I was very young, remember the sign but not the location..

Yup, it's all low income apartments now. Used to be quite something in its day. I used to do work in there but mostly on the roof. I understand the original ballroom ceiling is hidden above a false ceiling and is quite a site.

Fresno still has many of its original buildings downtown. Fulton St was converted to a walking mall in '64 so many of the buildings didn't change other than some crappy 1960's facade work. Ground breaking was just started to remove the mall and put the street back in. Can't wait to cruise it.

Fulton was the main drag back in 40-50s. Dad cruised Fulton, I cruised Belmont....the acorn dont fall far from the tree.

No by all means, lacquer jobs do indeed hold up. Love lacquer jobs. Most misunderstood paint cause today everyone thinks bc/cc. What I was asking however, for the pin stripping to etch and hold, the pin paint must of been lacquer as well, cause lacquer will melt into itself. IF you apply lacquer on top of enamel the enamel will lift, but you can apply anything on top of lacquer without it lifting as a rule of thumb. Therefore, If the car had a good existing wax job on it and one did not remove the wax, then the pin paint would not bond and melt into the existing lacquer paint due to the wax.

I'm struggling to work out who is driving the open car with the four ladies on the right side of the pic. Anyone know? If there's a steering device in the rear row, then I guess it's pretty easy to work out why that idea didn't catch on. Haha

…. and then pictured here on the right is a car operated from the back seat and apparently is where the old saying "back seat driver" originated ….
