    This and other Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg photos reminds me of the Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, Indiana. If you haven't been there you ought to try to make it. It is a fabulous place. Thanks for posting these great pictures.

    It's in Auburn Indiana ( who would guessed that) and a great place to visit. I plan on doing it again sometime.

    That ''seat'' position seems incredibly close to the steering wheel...shoving the driver literally, "next'' to the wheel!....I'm wondering if the reason is to ''wrench'' the steering wheel with a 'tugging' motion with both arms, sort of like a ''counter-balance''???...not much room.....great picture!!!:D

    Midway Airport and yes they do land that close to the rooftops. Always freaks people out that have not landed there before. It's also only about a 5,000 foot runway...............lot's of fun on a windy snowy night like I had last month!

    Port Arthur, Texas. Townsend had a twin Chevy hydroplane that he would run in the intercostal canal that goes alongside Port Arthur. I think he was killed in it.

    Sorry but, no , I do not think the trailer has anything to do with radio.
    It is a woodgas generator. During the war 1939-45 there was a dire gasoline shortage in Finland. It gave birth to technology and products to run cars and trucks on woodgas. Not very practical, the needed stove and CO chambers with gas coolers were big size and much less power compared to benzin (Gasoline).

    Here is another (more compact) model of the same thing; 1936 Dodge equipped with a an onboard woodgas system.[IMG]
    Here you see cross cut of the system mounted on a small 1939 Mercedes:
    [IMG]
    The stowe, where the wood is gasified is mounted in the back, pipes running underneath the car to front to big cooling unit, then to carburetor.

    It is a device that shows which valve to set.
    The version with the blond in it shows Racer Brown doing the head.

    Yup, taken at Itazuke AB Japan, during the Korean War. It's a F-82G nightfighter (the long dong between the twin fuselages is the radar housing) of the 68th AWFIS being flown by Capt.Johnnie Gosnell, and being waved off by his family while taxing out for a combat mission over Korea.

  18. Not to be picky (although I usually am), but that is a 1937 Dodge in the upper photo, not a 1936.

    I stand corrected, even if it's not much difference btw m36 to m37, thanks.
    Let me elaborate you a bit deeper on that photo;
    You see brass-cut "II"-figure on the rear door? - It's a 2nd class taxi cab used in Helsinki area in the 30's to 50's.
