I just checked HARTWELL steel latch on flea bay. There are quite a few types available.

Just found the thread, so I'm a follower. Brandon you have picked one of my favorite engine's. I liked it because out on the west coast beach cities, l was pretty much the only Y block runner in my group. I ran a 312, truck engine with the Merc heads, with offie 3 duces and a racer Brown cam. I went to work for Bill Stroppe, the famous Ford man. I was telling him one day about my setup and he started laughing and said "no wonder you beat all the Chevy boys, you couldn't have built a better combination unless you had me do those heads up for you ". He informed me that racer Brown did all there cams. And I bought mine from the Sears catalogue. He was only around a little over a year after I was there. I'll tell you more later. Thanks for the thread. Dave from So Utah

Also made a trim ring for my E-Brake, my dad made the one around the shifter.

Hey Jim, either Nathan's skills are getting better or yours worse, but I couldn't tell who made what!!!!!!!!!! (He said, putting on a hard hat, and running for cover) .
    Cheers,
    Stewart.

That's a good thing! Someday I won't have to watch over him at all. It won't be long.

The perfect ride. What a beautiful stance, you are going to have so much fun. I used to ride in the rumble seat of my dad's 29 coup. He's long gone. He would love this build. He and his brother used to run the cal. dry lakes in the 40's. Thanks for sharing.
PS: love the early CL 350, l was a honda mechanic those years. I still have parts. Lol

  12. Thank you! Yeah I can't wait, I lose sleep every night just thinking about it haha! That sounds awesome, what was in it? Very cool, I was actually a motorcycle mechanic myself for about two years, shop shut down unfortunately. A friend of ours gave that to my dad, it was a stock bike when we got it.... That didn't last too long hahah.

Looking really good. Only comment I have is on your shifter and e-brake trim you should take into account engine/tranny/body/frame movements in relationship to each other. Your clearances look pretty tight. Rock on.

  14. Been following this build right along and agree with most everyone, most impressive is that you have a dad to work with.

The bolted floor pans look cool. I would have been so eager to melt that metal together with my Lincoln MIG, I never would have thought of that. Removable pans might come in handy when servicing in the future.

  27. Thank you! Yeah we thought it'd make it a lot easier if we ever need to work on the transmission, plus I think it all bolted together looks cooler in my opinion!

Either you have had major surgery, and are much shorter than when I saw you at Cobo, or you are planning on sitting in a deck lounger to drive, coz I know I'm forrinor an all, but we build roll bars that go above our heads, but hey you guys always do things your own way. Just sayin......... .
    Cheers,
    Stewart.

  30. Roll cage is finished up, had a friend machine the clevises so the door bars can bolt to the roll cage and easily be removable.

Also gas tank is mounted, welded a pole on each side with a tab on the ends and have another tab bolted to that, squeezing the lip of the gas tank in place.
