So the question is, do you dig the Premiro ’57 Ranchero or the Elegante El Camino?

The only correct answer is yes.

  3. Tough choice, very tough choice. I think the El Camino would win out but it would come down to the wire.

Which of your children do you like the best?
I like the chrome and two tone version of the Ranchero, the base was plain.
The Elco held it's own either base or dolled up.
Now days the Ranchero is a 'little' easier to come by. If my pocket book would allow, I would have spaces for both.
Then again, I own both a Chevy Ute and a Ford Ute..........

I have seen some really nice renditions of "Edsel pickups" as if Ford had gone that way. Some really look factory.

I have a 57 Ranchero and the description on the title and registration is :Ute and this is US built and Oregon titled. So US did use Ute as a description.

  11. Seeing as I had both 59 and 60 El Caminos, I lean toward them. But I like the Ranchero also.

The very first statement in this article is not correct. Ford did not create the UTE in 1934, General Motors (Chevrolet ) had been building the UTE in conjunction with Holden as far back as 1927. Pontiac produced an enclosed Ute Coupe in 1929. Both Chevrolet and Ford produced an enclosed UTE Coupe in 1934. This is just more Ford propaganda like Ford inventing the Assembly line or the First V-8.
Also Ford did not invent the retractable hardtop convertible, That was Peugeot in 1939.

I like them both but I prefer the 58 Ranchy over the 57 and the 60 Elky over the 59.

Love them both, but since I've also got fond memories of three '58 Ford Not-Rancheros in my life, that's the one I'd seek out first.

I think Chevy did a better job with the B pillar and rear window. I understand wanting to use existing parts but the square door makes it look a bit homemade.

That said, the '59 Ranchero tail lights/fins look really good as truck quarters, they're a natural.

I'm kinda prejudiced toward the Elky, since I've owned a couple. the 60 is my favorite. 2.JPG

I, like most here, like both. Gun to head; I lean Chevy because I have an Impala.

I'd sooner get a mullet, then drive one of the later El Caminos though.

I like both, but I think the El Camino has more songs written about it.

Oddly enough I just saw this one tonight at a Lonestar Roundup event, at Top Notch Burger here in Austin, beautiful car... I'm usually a Ford guy but this was gorgeous
