Hey Fellas, first and foremost..yes it's a more door. But finding these kind of cars nowadays, is getting more difficult.
    Here is the story:
An "senior" Hot Rod friend of mine told me about this car about 3 months ago. He has known about the neighborhood car forever. After many phone calls he gave up. So I went in search of the house. Found it and spoke with nice next door neighbor, whom gave me relatives phone number. (house empty since 95 yr old owner passed )

After leaving several messages, made contact with the grandson. He gave me the rundown and agreed to that I could have first dibs. Grandma/Grandpa purchased it December of 1960, in Virginia. He was stationed at Langley AFB. For the next 30 years it was cared for and pampered along with relocating to Winter Park Florida. He finally died and She finally stopped driving it around 1990??? And there it sat, in the carport, for the NEXT 30 years, with refusal of many offers of people wanting to buy it. But now with her gone and the house being sold (cool 50's ranch!!!) time to let go of the old car.

He offered it to me "as-is" for $1800. After thoughts of flipping or sending it to Sweden a close friend stepped up and said he would love to have it. So as usual, with allot of beg borrowing and stealing, he and his wife came up with the greens.$$ (his wife actually is jazzed about the Galaxie!!)

We made the deal Sunday morning, naturally with a crowd of family members and neighbors in attendance. Story upon story was told about it's history and being a part of the family.

I am so excited for Sean(and Jes') to finally get a car worth keeping. The plans call for attempting to see if the original Y-Block is free and will run. He wants to keep it as original as possible. If the motor is seized, may swap in a later model 302 and AOD.
Either way will keep y'all posted on this latest edition to our gearhead family.

    JT

That's a decent looking car. Looks solid and even had the skirts! I took the steering column and wheel out of a 4dr that color and put it in my cabrio. Good find.

How things have changed..........My first car (that actually drove) was a 59 Galaxy 500 2 dr. hardtop. It came without an engine or trans. but the body, paint, glass, trim and interior were very nice. All for the 1968 price of $10. I got an 352 Interceptor engine/trans from a 1960 Police car for $40 and started terrorizing the locals. You know there are still a lot of FE engines around. Good luck!

I don't think they affixed the 500 number to the Galaxie model until well after 1959, I believe this is just Galaxie. There was Fairlane and Fairlane 500 though.

One of the better looking 4 doors. Did people actually like those beaded seat cushions? Maybe that's why they parked it. ;)

Blowby....those beaded cushions are ugly...but not as ugly as your ass and back being permanently glued to a vinyl seat while driving from FL heat and humidity. You don't see those as often here in Socal....shit...you'd never need one in San Francisco.

Squablow, it has a gold 500 emblem on the trunk. Middle zero swings away to expose key hole.
Porknbeaner, we could only wish:). Appears to be a 292? with a Ford-O-Matic trans??
Black Panther, front seat is trashed!! Back seat still has the plastic seat cover.

My buddys grandpa had them in his van and they are comfortable. I wouldn't have guess that but after sitting on one they work. Sweet car also hope it's not a big fight to get her on the road.

Curious on the acoustics when you fart on them... BTW, great to see another '59 project.

Neighbors down the road bought a new '59 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie
It was a 4-door sedan. What a great-looking car back then. Can still remember the double badging being a bit confusing, esp to a young lad.
IIRC, shortly after, they took it out to California to Disneyland.

A trim level on top of the Fairlane 500, with it's own unique roof.

Nice find,we are in the process of getting one of those back on the road now.
One thing to remember, this year is a one off year, some of the parts only work for the 59 model year,
    Good luck with yours.

They make good drivers. I drove this one in the early 90s. The 292 was plenty strong. It had a 3 on the tree and overdrive, which was really nice.

I believe the name actually is "Fairlane 500 Galaxie".
Has Galaxie on the quarters, but Fairlane 500 on the deck lid.

It's roofline mimics the Sunliner Retractable. Appears more regal.

Not a crack in the steering wheel!!!
I venture to say a heavy 'detail job' will do wonders.

Don't despair about an engine change...these cars are marvelous to work on. Gobs of room under hood, and the tranny mount at the cross member has an option of being bolted on in the reverse position (just swap it end for end) for most of the 'other' trannies.
Genuine Ford parts, if vying for the 302 get as much of the mounting hardware as you can.
Lots of stuff interchanges. (like '64 302 mounts, as the tube cross member/engine mount is the same as the '64)

Good job, bro! Another "Junkyard Survivor"! Is that a hardtop? Just goes to prove once again that they're still out there. Hope to see some updates soon. Mato

That's post car so you most likely have a body style 54A as a Galaxie. There were about 180,000 of those made. Under the Fairlane name, there is a body style 58B sedan, with about 35,000 made. You can decode the vin plate easily enough.
