This was my Dads 41, he is collecting a Good Guys award. As he was parking they called his name as a qualifier for the Boydster they were giving away

Here's my 56 coupe! As you can see she needs a little attention lol these pictures were taken when I first brought her home in August of last year. She came out of Colorado and is a pretty solid old car. When I bought her, she came with a 454 bb. My luck the motor wasn't the best. It runs but doesn't stay running long, just 2-10 seconds at a time (just a carb issue). I drained the oil and it was just milky flake slush (not what i wanted to see!). I knew my head gaskets were bad by the looks of the oil, so I pulled them off. The old saying "You go looking for trouble and you will sure find it" its true! That's exactly what happen. It turns out I have a cracked piston too lol yeah you could say; "well that's a somewhat "easy" fix, just replace the piston and get new gaskets" and I have thought about doing that. Totally rebuilding the motor. Buuut that takes money, and that's where I run into problems. I'm only 17, so I'm not as financially equipped as most of you older gentleman lol It's really funny, but it took me two years to save up enough to buy this big boat! Ever since I was little, big caddy's have always been my favorite cars (55/6 in particular) My granddad and dad have always been Chevrolet guys, and my uncles are all ford guys. I don't know, its just my taste I guess (I like everything though!) So anyways, sure I could use my family to help me financially. But whats the fun in that?! I already appreciate the car a whole hell of a lot more because I worked to pay for it. It teaches some good life lessons. I go to a High School where mommy and daddy pay for everything. These kids have not a clue of what working to pay for something is like. I have big goals for this car. There's many shows I want to take it to this year. There's a lot I still have to do to it before I can drive it (Swap motors, figuring out my breaks, and i need to rewire everything) Making her look pretty will come in time. I'm not as worried of what it looks like right now, my focus is getting her running really good. I still have A LOT to learn! and with the right people to teach me I should have a pretty cool hot rod. Feel free to give me some pointers and advice on things! I would greatly appreciate it! -Thanks Jacob

The body doesn't look all that bad Jacob, and it's got an interior, at least of what I can see...and an engine fix isn't that tuff...keep at it. If it were me, I'd do the "minor" fix on the engine, see if the fix holds and drive it this summer...then when you get a full time summer job, save enuff money to do a full rebuild-next winter...!!!

Looks good Jacob......if shes gonna live outside for now, Id hit the raw areas with primer and get a car cover.

I agree, do the cheap fix on the engine and see what happens.
