Photograph of front of the four-story Savoy Corporation Garage, 24 Hour Service, ca.1920-1930. Signage indicates Open for Business, and Alterations & Construction Curtis Construction Company 839 North Washington Boulevard Prospect 7374. American flags are hanging across the building. Two metal fire escapes are attached to the face of the building. Rates posted are ten cents for one hour, two hours fifteen cents, twelve hours twenty five cents, $6.00 per month. Air hose and public telephone are also displayed.

It was called the Clark Gable Spl. because it had been used in the 1950 movie To Please a Lady in which Gable played Mike Brannan race car driver.

WW2 they had 270s. Korea had 302 engines. When I was a MoPool mech. we had trucks from Korea with the 302 engines. I thought I remembered 2 bbl carburetors. But I doubt the WW2 engines would have had Hydromatics. The 302 was also used in armored Personal carriers at that time. Two engines, one on each side. The GMC deuce and a half did indeed have two drive shafts running to the rear axles. The Reo and Studebaker 2 1/2 ton trucks had only one. Double reduction drive I think. forward rear axle had a carrier on top with a short drive shaft to the rear. Third members dropped in from the top not from the front like the GMC. Distributors on the REO and GMC were the same except they turned in opposite directions. I found that out when I put a GMC distributor in a Reo. Started good. Power dropped off with the centrifugal retard.

 

I don't know, but further north up the front range you can hike the old route up Mt. Falcon where the annual race up the mountain was sponsored by the Denver Stanley Steamer dealer.

 

The fellow holding the trophy, sure resembles "James Mitchum"...eldest son of Robert Mitchum (the actor)

This is a cool picture that swi66 posted. The car circled in red, is it a custom 55 Chevy. Hard to tell. Cropping and blowing up the picture just make it blurry.

 

Another cool picture. Taken on opening day at Disneyland in 1955. Gullwing Mercedes in the parking lot, 53/54 Ford Sedan Delivery, 40 Ford Coupe. Lots of cool iron in that parking lot.
