I'm not sure who took the picture but it really shows off Jeff Myers Kustom work.

  5. The Fat Lucky interior is a work of art in that car as well!

Clean and elegant, with everything melded together perfectly. Is this a fresh car? Has there been any features done on it?

The guys finished it years ago and it's home is on the East coast. I know Rod & Custom magazine did a feature, should have been some more. It was one of my favorite Kustoms that was from the team of McPhail & Myers.

Restraint is not always in a customizers tool box. But is good to have, as evidenced by this example. Spot lights, lake pipes and skirts are thought to be obligatory by some, when building a custom. I am not against these things; I have lakes on one of my cars. But some times throwing parts at a car results in clutter. This 56 is not cluttered. That trunk bead is a great detail. It reminds me of some car. Mid 50.s Buicks?

'57 Buick (and Olds) carried double beads over the top.

Here's a less subtle earlier version.

  17. Lol....been a long time since it looked that "good". However, before that picture, it was broadsided and a bondo filled repair with a rusty 1/4 was done by a shop. A few years after that picture, it was rear ended. Rather than end up with another poor repair, I took all the insurance $ and bought a rust free rear clip out of Arizona. Literally 20 years later, I finally hooked up with John Meyer at Clean Cut Creations out of St Louis....a guy and a shop willing and capable of doing it right. Got the car back a couple months ago, but it's a long way from being a runner much less a finished car after sitting for 20 years.....

    Morning after it was broadsided:

    As it looks today:

Thanks for posting the pics Mick! Happy memories!

  18. Sounds like a love affair, Doc. Glad you have managed to hang on to her all these years. Now come on, break out the body equipment and put her back in the purple suede! E

  19. LOL. It was my first car, never finished (obviously) but I had big plans. Never would have dreamed at 18 that my then 20 year old car and I would be over 50 before it was finished. Man time goes! Fortunately, my tastes have mellowed a bit between now and then and now it won't get finished in candy brandywine with ghost flames....although it will likely get a panel and lace job ala May Cause Dangerous. At this point, it's too close to all the way apart to not tear it completely apart and do a frame off. I'm part way through redoing my dad's '69 mustang from the ground up, then the Pontiac is next. Not to change the subject but at least 7 of the pics from the Hang`in Dice show were cars from the Omaha Nebraska/Council Bluffs Iowa area that you just posted. Thank You.

Remember Larry Purcells' 41 Ford? She is back on the road, I cant wait to see her in person again.
Last time I saw it was at the first Spectacular (1981) in Wichita.
