My friend Bill Carey and I attended the Celebration for TV Tommy's 80th Birthday at the NHRA Museum in Pomona, CA. Here's a short video presentation of the events of the day. Enjoy.
Very cool, of course I liked seeing old 219 @ 4.06 in. I spent a lot of time cruising the salt in that car. Thanks a lot for the tour. I just finished Tommy's book, I highly recommend it, its a real good read, G. Vail.....
Wow, how time flies. I remember Tommy on TV and in about 1965 or so, he brought his dragster setup to Pittsburgh International Dragway. It was the first time I had ever seen a really professional touring racer, he had that gl*** sided trailer truck with two (as I recall) dragsters stuffed inside. Happy Birthday, Tommy. Don
FWIW, Tommy Ivo and Cynthia Pepper were in a show called "Margie". "My Little Margie" was with Gail Storm. Two different programs. I used to watch both of them
Thanks for sharing video - Birthday boy Tommy Ivo is a terrific guy, easy to talk to - the records that he set and cars that he built are amazing.
Thanks for sharing that video. I'm only a few ticks younger than Ivo, was able to ***ist him, back in 1970. He still looks good. The NHRA Museum has always been on my bucket list, but have not gotten there. Again, thanks for sharing.
I was there a month too early March 18th, saw the flyer for it, looked like it would have been a blast.
Nice video. THANKS ! Also nice change to have a video without distracting headbanging background music.
Never knew that TV Tommy and I share the same Birthday. Looks like he had a good time with good friends. HRP I always liked these images from Life Magazine.
Happy Belated Birthday T.V. Tommy, It was nice visiting with you @ The TROG party couple of months back in Burbank. May you have many more.
Mr Ivo built a car to piss off Mickey Thompson .Who managed the local drag strip. He was mad because Mr Ivo's car was so fast. It had shop rags for interor a meat cleaver in the trunk sheet metal no paint and rusty. But very the car was very fast. . So I would say Tommy built the first rat rod. great guy he inspired a lot of car guys. Plus he was in a lot of old Hot Rod movies.
