If it's the same one I saw, at one point the dents actually made power. WTH?o_O

Everyone knows that I am a big fan of GM motors in general and specifically the small block and I have been known to come up with some very different combos of stock or modified stock parts to achieve an intended goal. I have run more than one 350 in my time and had some that ran well and some that didn't. In my opinion it is the engine that GM should have never built. Nothing wrong with the displacement but if they had left the 327 stroke stock and achieved their displacement by bore instead they would have built a way better engine, in my opinion. And just for clarity I don't have anything against 350s just because every tom **** and Harvey uses one I use one I just do it with more cl***.

now for the sake of argument that would have been approximately this bore and stroke:
4.155 x 3.25 or in terminology based on current availability the same bore as a 400" motor (4.125) + .030. Or one could possibly say a 400 block +.030 and a 3.25" crank. LOL Of course it would not have been a punched 400 of they actually had built it, then it would have been a stock 350.
    $400.00 dyno time +$50.00 tip. Priceless. :D

Ford has a 3.4 stroke x 4.125 bore [dart block] 8.2 deck crate engine..363 cube and 500 hp..Just throwing it in.:D..3.250 stroke [readily available] does 347 make and the block can go 4.150 bore so it would end up at 351.690...There you are; change the name on the valve covers...

  6. thought they were all vette motors. 3/4 cam is funny, when I was wee, it was standard talk, we never thought about 3/4 of what......if it loped it was a 3/4 cam, but mostly it usually was a bad plug wire.

Thanks for the supercharger info. I figured it was something along those lines.

If we are all being honest here, its this. In a circle of car guys everyone tries to out do each others stories, so anyone with a plain ol 350 is at the bottom of the totem pole....not that any of that applies to us in here...we would never do say/do that....

Actually, the figure at the bottom of the totem pole was the one with the most prestige.
Dr. Spenser Reed re-confirmed that for me. Thought I was the only one that read...

I've had/have 331's, 333's, 355's, 357's, and even a 427 sbc now, the reason I spell out the cubic inches is to byp*** the whole crate motor discussion. Doesn't always work, seems the term "crate motor" rolls off the tongue of some people like they have just discovered a new language. I know they have been (are) the best thing since indoor plumbing to some people, but having been a machinist for so long, I tend to like holding a conversation that contains a little substance.
Talk of crate motors just seems like so much white bread and peanut ****er to me, kind of sticks to the roof of my mouth.
And speaking of 3/4 and full race motors; I thought those terms died when they stopped selling Brylcreem and poodle skirts.
    Edit
I see they still make it, I gotta get out more I guess.

.030 over on how it equates to HP? Kind of like separating fly **** from pepper. YGBSM? Probably a good question for *** Monkey Garage.

The one that makes me wanna kick the pukes in the sack:
"Hey do you know (Harry Palmer)?" as they're looking at whatever I'm showing. "He does work like this, maybe even a little better, but this is nice." In most cases the one with the question is the real Harry Palmer. We all know him, right? Married to "Fistina", yeah that ****in guy.

Another mope told me about his 410 duration camshaft. He left fairly red in the face when I explained to him in a crowd about how there's only 360 degrees in a circle so when does the ****in valve actually close.

These folks are and always will be part and parcel to what we do. I'm just so entertained when really old wives tales still come up, like blocking some of the exhaust port so you can build compression. Like the need to groove the crank in all BBCs. Like how 59 Chevrolets will go airborn at 85 MPH because of the fins. "I know for a fact it will! I was in one when it happened!!" "Hey dribble ****, I hear Fistina calling you home..."

Huh, Facebook must be down or something...
BTW I got the Boogie Nights reference...
And my engine was built 30 years ago and yes people said that their stuff was bored then too...
Matter of fact my father had a 327 that was bored .030 over in 78 and I knew that then at the age of 11 cause it was mentioned...not bragged but discussed.
to the OP I would suggest posting a 'name my car thread' those usually go much better...

0.030 over on 350cu in motor increases the displacement about 5 cu in. Just increasing the displacement will maybe add 1 HP. Change the heads, cams, compression ratio for a real HP change.

Annoying comment to me is" My Grandpa had a car just like this in the 40's. O yeah, did it have power windows, power brakes, A.C. mustang II suspension V-8 motor? Not exactly alike huh........!

    I have a 4.040" X 3.75" Chebbie.

When they ask me what size it is, if I tell them it's 385", they get all puzzled. :confused:o_O

If I just tell them it's 383" they ask, MOPAR?

    I'd just as soon tell 'em, it's a 327" bored .040" and stroked 1/2". ;)

That's why I got rid of my beard. My wife is only 8-years and 3-months younger than me.

Not really a scandal in this day and age.
