I originally intended to go with this new OEM brilliant reds that are out, (that's why the frame is toreador red), but am now favoring Black Cherry. Since most of us always want the best public acceptance for our work, I thought why not get the opinion of the most critical of all, the real car guys. So I put it out there. Black Cheery on black interior or the red?
I like black cherry, I have seen a lot of paint that is sold as black cherry that really isn't though and have seen lots of methods to achieve black cherry that are passable as paint goes but are not black cherry. Black cherry is actually a candy color if done right and only looks reddish in the proper light.
Black Cherry- I don't think it's gonna go with a red frame though! Up to you- '34's look cool ANY color.
I've never been a big fan of colors that skirt the region between two others. Paint it black, or paint it red. You did ask for opinions. And for the folks that don't know what his car looks like, this may help.
Hey BB very good question that needs a good answer. I was set on the toreador red and it looked good on the frame. It didn't have the bang I was after for the body though, it was done and painted 10 years ago. The new reds out are fantastic and when inquiring about those I was informed they are tri-coats and take great expertise to do right, something do not have and they are very expensive, something else I lack in having. So I have always liked BC and I will have it sprayed on all exterior surfaces that are seen from the street. Kind of different, but no one will know unless they get on there belly to see under the car.
The 90s called, said all the black cherry bike tanks, helmets and T bucket bodies were being recalled for excess usage. I'm not a red kinda guy in most any shade, and while I can believe I'm saying it because it's my least favorite color, I think "Volante Coach Maroon" as found on 40-41 Lincoln Continentals would be a ballin choice for the direction you've gone. The frame is "blue" enough to work with it and would make a nice offset. Have it made more with toners than with solid tints (toners are transparent). Spray it over a black base and prepare to be stunned once finished. But black cherry? Eeeeww...
My vote goes out to go with the red you have done the frame in..But I would go with PPG single stage paint. Great product to work with, nice to do repair work and touch up on. Plus it is not that costly per gallon.
im surprised with the mustang 2, jag rear, fat radials, true spokes, this doesnt get deleted off here, doesnt really fit the 64 cutoff date of the hamb board
huh??!!??, say what ???!!??? Mustang 2 ?? No Mustang 2 on this car. Body and frame real 34 Ford steel, true spokes made for the car very early 60's, and there must be thousands of pre 64 street rods that have radials. Do not get your meaning, (beef)???? Wonder if F-head might be Ben Sebastian???
Ok I could be wrong on the brand, maybe they are appliance or maybe this old man is getting forgetful about the year. Still the question F-head, why the comment to ban it from the board?
Larry, thanks for the reply on your frame color. I am nearing completion of my mock up as well and have a frame and body to paint so thus my query. After reading the post and imagining your red frame under it I think the vibrant red is a good choice or paint that body to match the frame which is beautiful BTW.
Bluest BLACK know to man. Everything red goes black. Chrome reverse wheels. The other way you are going is NSRA circa 1985-1999. But then again, what do I know.....
Slammed not only has the bestest avatar, he also picked my favorite color, house of kolor black...it gots some purple in there******es. Looks like a nasty bruise.
