Well worth the drive man! I'll be totally honest and tell you most of the time when the show is a couple hours or more away I end up enjoying the drive more than the show. Not to say the show is terrible I just really like the road.

This event however was more fun than the drive and absolutely justified the drive. Just make sure your cooling system and brakes are up for for the challenge, Austin traffic has more in common with traffic in Mexico than it does with Mayberry.

Great job with the pic selection, Tim. Reading along was like walking with you, just natural conversation.
(My love of '46s would guarantee we'd have stayed with that black-on-black Ragtop for awhile!)
    Truly some nice work! Thanks!

Honestly? Good God, NO. Categorized shows suck, in my opinion. There's no real judging at the LSRU, and friends and clubs park together, so forcing categories on us would be very unpopular.

Yeah, I get where he's coming from though. Just trying to make a large show easier to see.

  5. Is it for the clubs or for the "people" ? Judging has nothing to do with it... total distance walked, when added up by all attendees, would be greatly reduced. That's all I'm saying.... I kinda chuckled when I read your signature..."the 1st step is admitting you have a problem"....ahahaha

Not to be that guy but if you want to talk about how a show is or isn't laid out can you start a new thread?

  10. Ha ! Yep, I check in here for more badazz' car pictures ! Unbelievable amount of LSRU stuff to see for sure ..... but the yakity yak stuff above definitely doesn't compare to this thread's intro' .... again, thanks Tim ! Your coverage made me feel guilty for missing it.

Thanks guys for the continued compliments on the photos. It's s good show and like nearly all of them I think it's the most fun hitting as many side events as possible with some friends :)

I always try to not eat at any chain food places or at any place more than once. Smaller places are always better tasting and priced. On top of that you get s better feel for the area and are more likely to hear about good after events, places to check out etc than waiting in line at McDonald's

  12. I only go to the roundup for the side events. Dont get me wrong, the main show is great but the side events are what makes it special.

What are the ones you like the best? I had a hard time picking which ones I was going to do, and then when I got home I saw several others I didn't even hear about.

Excellent job! Not only captured great cars but some of the flavor of Austin too. Thanks for posting.

I'll caravan with you next year as you come through Phoenix! I hope to take my '32 coupe... but I've gotta get crackin on it as it's not running/driving right now! That is my deadline... LSRU 2017.

I loved watching your adventure to the Hot Rod Hillclimb... I'd love to be in the background of your trek to Austin!

I guess I need to update my profile. I'm not in Austin anymore. Born & raised in Austin... but couldn't take the traffic anymore! I hadn't missed any of it (except the food) until the LSRU!!! And, Tim... your post made me realize the allure of it all... and from now on I'm gonna be on a similar pilgrimage! Great coverage!

  17. We go up early on Thursday to catch the kickoff BBQ, the food and cars are always great. The hopup party at Austin speed shop on friday night is a cool event as well and I think less packed then their big Sat. Night party. Top notch is always very laid back and a great hangout with friends too. Get there early because spaces get full quick!

Hey 3blap, LSRU is a long way off but it would be great to grab you on the way! Phoenix is the way we'd go too, so stay after that coupe! (3 or 5 window?) Really glad you liked our road trip thread, thank you. We're planning another so stay in touch!

Hey Tim, see what you've done with your exallent LSRU coverage? THANK YOU again!!

  19. Sigh........haven't gone in about 10 years. I wanna go again. Love your photos, Tim...tell Sarah "Hi" for me.

@Tim, I was at the show, but your narrative was GREAT. Hope you and your pretty wife can make it down here again, soon. I do believe the Roundup is the best Texas has to offer. We drive the 75 miles often in our Deuce Highboy just to experience the food and the cars. And the drive is pleasant, too. Surely hope y'all make it home with no problems and I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves. Gary Addcox
