The hood curves on Voo Doo Jims buick is that a styling or function thing, just wondering, don't think I've seen it before, and it's hard to do something new

  3. Jeff rounded the door corners on it and after that the rear of the hood had the only square corners left. Only one thing to do, round them too!

  5. ^ Anybody know the story with the "D.F.W.M." in the trunk emblem?

  7. Cool to see Lee's old shoebox is still around. I wondered if it ever got finished, but judging by the pic I guess not. Hopefully someone will finish it up.

I had no idea those two Buicks were the same car. I remember when I took the pic at Ft Smith of it it had a voodoo kinda head and pinstriping on the trunk lid. There were a couple of primer customs about that time that had the same sorta trunk work. I thought they were a cool thing to do

Lee`s shoebox was discovered about 7 years ago. It was bought by it`s previous owner who put it up for auction last spring. I thought it would go high so I didn`t attend the auction. It did not. I should of went, oh well. The car was sold to an online bidder, I believe in Georgia or Mississippi or somewhere south. I`m guessing that was the auction listed above because the new owner called and said the top was not with the car when it arrived. Somehow it went missing when it was shipped. Unless it appeared at a later date.

A little more info on my old 50 Ford, ( for those that are interested). I spoke to the new owner shortly after he bought it at auction. The shipper didn't tie down the top and it blew off unnoticed, ( glad I took the tag off, it was a Hall top). As with most projects the new owner wants to build it as I planned although I don't have high expectations since talk of a S 10 frame and several other major modifications were discussed.

  10. One was Mitch Willis' Fleetline. It and Jim's shrunken head design were both painted on the decklids by Dennis Mcphail.

  12. Wow, a Hall top?!?! I'm sure everybody can relate to debris littered all over the highway as we go from place to place. I shudder to think of this top lying in the road and some 18 wheeler........oh, I just don't want to think about it! E

I certainly appreciate the update. But I,too, am saddened by the content.
Still, it is good to know the car is still intact, and hopefully will remain so.
(BTW, four seems like a lot of carbs! Block-off plates, maybe?)

  14. Yup, sure enough, that's the other one I was thinking of for sure. I thought that fleetline was way cool. Think someone has posted pics of it that it's still around but has been changed quite a bit?

  15. I know he sold it to a guy in Colorado, I believe a member of the Lonely Knights.....
It got some red two-tone and a bunch of stickers added to it. It was at one of SK500 shows with "for sale" signs on it.
I don't anything about it after that........

  16. Found these on carnut, from the 2003 SK500.

  25. Nice ones Mick! That pink scalloped Buick is another car that warped my young mind. Anyone know the owner's name? It was in Wichita for the Merc/Deuce Reunion in 1984. I know the portholes had lights in them and it had hydraulics. I have an old video somewhere of it nose to nose with another car and they were raising the front hydraulics at each other.

I have always loved Harold Olsen's Buick since I saw it in Classic 'n Custom Magazine.....

Any info on the chopped Chevy sedan? Don't know that I've ever seen that one before. What's up with the grill on it,
is that just something someone stuck in it?

And I like the last two. Nice examples of mild customs!

Thank you for posting, looking forward to more.

Thanks Sancho, had a great time hangin out with you this weekend. I just needed more time.

The chopped Chevy Sedan is parked by Gary Mundy. I will give him a holler this evening to see who owned it. I was at the show and do not remember seeing it.

The pink 55 Buick hurt me to and it still does today. I would love to see it running around again. I loved the Doug Reed video of him running up to and Intersection and he dumped the front end. Lol! I wore that VCR tape out watching it over and over. If I owned a '55 Buick I would sure be tempted to clone it. Way too kool ride..

  27. Also, I just noticed in the second photo I believe that green Olds next to the Buick is the one that was featured in an issue of the short lived Super Customs and Hot Rods magazine. Remember that mag?

  28. I still have the few issues of that mag that came out....I think there were maybe only 3. I remember Harry Bradley's La Jolla being in one issue.

I'm with both of you guys....that pink Buick would be a hoot to be driving today....I wouldn't change a thing.

  29. very nice car, what kind of hubcaps are these?

  30. I believe they are 1954-55 Cadillac Deville caps.
