Chris, This car is great! And I love that dash! Cant wait to see more.
    Question......
Is it possible to put 40 nose and fenders on a 47?

Wont really show once the wheelcovers are on...;) With the blue, I'd paint 'em red, but my guess is, Chris is already thinking that.

I think they are talking steering wheel, in which case will be white. And yes, if I do full wheel covers, then the wheels will be red or some sort of warm color

1941-1948 are quite a bit wider. I mean, anything is possible, but it would take a lot of modifying and the end result would probably look very odd

So I've been playing around with caps and tires latley...trying to figure out tire size front and rear so I can run Olds hubcaps. I only have ONE 15" tire around, so used it to mock up the front end. In his pic, the car is sitting lower in the front, and quite a bit higher in the back. I have another spring for the back to raise it up eventually

So this thread is taking a slight derailment. I ended up buying a nice running/driving 46 club coupe Saturday. It has some sins that need addressed but it is a lot farther along then this car. But it will get a lot of the same treatment as this car. For the difference in price, I couldn't begin to get this car up to where this new car is. This car has great character and patina...but I wanted to paint one and make it as nice as possible. Buying one nearly done just made more sense.

Man that chrome dash is sweet. With all the dough you're saving now you can give the new '46 that treatment.

Yeah, I'm almost embarr***ed to show this thing. But beyond the paint and red wheels is a nice old car. It's an old Spokane mild Hotrod, I think with the car sitting right with tires and wheels and the pinstriping/stickers gone it will look a lot better. I may put some of the trim back on...I love trim on cars.
It was painted "Hotrod flatz" and I've heard you can buff it to get a nice deep shine. I will try that. If all else fails it is a nice enough car I think I could scuff and spray it a gloss easily. I am not going for perfect.
It's stock drive train, running flathead, the guy has put a lot of money into it. He says the engine is tired, he's selling it because he can't afford a new engine. So I'll drive it until it's time and do the chev swap. The main bonus to this car is it runs and drives, has all new rubber, gl***, window channels, seals, etc. there's thousands of dollars worth of parts that I would have needed. I crawled all over it and aside from a tool tray repair, it looks like a nice original car. He had before pictures as well, which made me feel better. It also has the stock front bumper and gravel pan, and the stock steering wheel

So, prepare to see what cannot be unseen

Here it was when he got it 10 years ago. It had sat since the 60's. You can see it had the deck lid and fender trim shaved already. I'm excited for a challenge to bring it up to my standards.

In '62 I was feverishly trying to finish my first Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild entry (13 yrs old).

  15. Are you taking the interior out of the other car? No more '41 nose? Looks like you'll be leaps and bounds ahead once you get ride of the cliche stuff.

Yes, I forgot to mention I will swap seats and dash out of the old one. I love the 41 sheetmetal, but I do not want to swap everything out...it would kind of defeat the purpose. The main idea to this car was a cheap closed up family car that we can enjoy. Not the coolest car ever, but something with a heater and sealed up good with a back seat that the family can ride in. But it's gotta look cool ;)

Probably a couple weeks. I sold the tires/wheels off of it a couple weeks back because I was planning on putting 15's on it...so I don't know how I'll get around that hurtle.

Something about the wheel position is screaming 'Greased Lightning' to me. hahaa

Cool car! I kinda like the old one more, but probably because of all the things you did to it. I'm sure this one will be even better.

You played that one up a bit haha, that's not a bad looking car at all...just needs to lose some tackiness is all. Good score.

I really like the old one, too. I just came to the realization that I just do not have a lot of time and would like this car sooner then later to haul the family. The black one made sense just because of the price, and how much more complete it is. It will be easy to get it looking good, I think....

Aside from swapping some stuff off the old one, I would like to get the pin striping and stickers off, try buffing it, install bumper and some trim and get the proper wheels/tires and stance dialed in. That should be enough to get it turned around pretty quick and easy

Not sure how I missed this 'til today. My very first model kit was a 32nd scale snap together kit that looked virtually identical to your black car. It looks really good, and will look great once you've got everything dialed in.

I got the 46 home yesterday. It needs some brake work and some other misc stuff but all in all its a decent car.

Today I swapped on the 7.50 and 6.00 16's. It was a chore, because the bolt pattern had been redrilled on the coupe to 5x4.5". Even sitting nearly stock height, it looks 100% better

Wow. What a difference already. Nice car.
Going to look sweet with the dash swap!
Never heard of buffing up the hot rod flatz but I know it can be cleared over.

In 1962 I was driving this 30 Model A Coupe. It had a Flathead motor, 39 Trans and was a very fun car to drive.
