I have six of them in my shop going on a '33 P-2 Rolls Royce (two side mount spares). I have used them quite a few times. Period correct for 30's and 40's cars. Very good tire, they are round and easy to balance.

I once bought some 7.00x16" Lesters and they were a tad shorter and narrower than my Firestones.. They just didn't have that big rear tire look.. OH!! You were talking about fronts.. Sorry, No info on fronts but I would stick with Firestones....

I've ran them on the rears for years, Denman's before that. Pretty Traditional I feel. I haven't noticed anything funky with them, but they're getting pretty pricey these days so I swapped on dirt track tires for now as that's what I started with on this, still feel the both looks are timeless.

  5. funny someone said they were not as wide as the firestones, I had some Lesters 750X16 and they were too fat to fit in the side mounts covers on my 37 Cadillac. The stones fit good. but anyway, they are a tire that has been around a LONG time and would be right at home on an old hot rod.

  6. Are they round and made from rubber? In the strictest sense any modern tire whether it looks like an old tire or not is not going to be traditional, modern tires are made with different rubber compounds. Even modern bias plys.

As for if anyone ever used Lester tires the name has been around for quite a while, they obviously were not stones but not everyone ran stones. If you like 'em and they fit run 'em who really cares.

Thanks guys. I am running Firestones on the rear. The Lester front looks a little shorter and thinner than the 600x16 Stones. I think I will give them a shot.

Lester 600 16 shows to be 28.40 tall with a 4.40 tread width. I think most guys are in love with the Firestone Piecrust sidewall and that is the kicker as these look rather plain.

    From the Coker Firestone page
    • SKU: 643500
    • Tread Width: 4.63
    • Section Width: 6.26
    • Overall Diameter: 28.56
Yep the Lester is .16 shorter and .23 narrower in the tread.

before you order the Lester's...check out Coker Classics 6.00x16... and they have the matching pie crust sidewall.

    sku: 65700
    tread width: .413
    section width: 6.25
    diameter: 28.30
    price: $136.00

    Old thread.
Why did they stop production on Lester 600-16 with 4" www?
Now only black wall in that size they do offer Lester 6.50-16 with 4" www but not a 6.00-16
    Anyone know?
