Looks very "50s racy" to me. I think that's cool.

I have always liked the tach mounted on the dash. I almost did it on mine. Nice looking dash by the way!

When are you going to show us more of your 40? I do like the tach.

  13. As much as I love '40's and flames and wood wagons, somehow it just doesn't seem right to put flames on a woody. I can't quite explain it and I'm sure others will disagree but, I think it somehow takes away from the elegance of the car. Don't get me wrong, the one pictured above is beautiful and I would love to own one (not that I could ever afford one) but, they just seem too classy to carry off flames. OK, feel free to "flame" me now.:D

I would agree with you even though the one above has "traditional " flames.
I would go a step further and IMHO only period correct colors work best and absolutely never painted white.

Wouldn't disagree Don, but as to color, I have always harkened to the darker shades of green for a woodie, just seems natural to me. And to be honest, between the flames and fog lights, this car is too busy. But it was too great a shot not to post, Texas car by the way. And yes, a '40 woodie would be the only car I would trade up to with my coupe.

  18. ...............Wow! I couldn't agree more. The darker green with wood body just works so well. The "natural" Earth colors of wood & green were meant to be together and compliment each other so perfectly.

  19. You guys are making me jealous out there driving your 40's. Mine is still in the body shop undergoing repairs from getting rear ended last fall. Hopefully it will be done shortly! :)

  20. LOL. Normally, I would agree, but I do like that '40 Woodie. I always thought it somewhat ironic to have flames on such a flammable body, with all that firewood.

This Acadia Green woodie definitely knocked my socks off, with it's hopped up flatty and a Borg Warner OD converted torque tube. Super cool car from Kansas.

Hot rods should be fun, and what could be more tongue-in-cheek than a woodie with flames?

  22. Flames or not, he drives it, that's for sure. I saw it at the LSRU and he lives in New Hampshire!

  25. I'm a fan of the Monkey truck (Ryan Miller's '41). It's from the Tulsa area.

Ol55, that first picture brought back some memories of a trunk panel repair dome not too long ago.
Did you repair the damaged fender, score another original fender or buy a new one for the repair. Looks like nice work being done on the repair.

A picture of the one that got away. I sold it, shouldn't have but now its way to late, I've moved on. However we drove this car 8 years, averaged 7,000 miles a year while we owned it. It was off topic but the way I liked it.
