My Mother bought a new 1962 Pontiac Tempest and believe me that car was more dangerous than any Corvair ever built.

Kids looked so much older back then.
Sophomores were usually around 16 years old. They look like they could be in their 20's or almost 30.

Is this Depoe Bay? Newport Oregon?

Early ancestor of the Fiat 500? If so, a modern one would be interesting.

  19. It's one or the other - I remember the old aquarium vaguely as a kid in Newport (there's still the one in Seaside, but definitely not a hill behind that one), but I don't remember an aquarium in Depoe Bay although that in and of itself certainly doesn't mean there wasn't one... This is a photo of a friends mom.

  20. I take it back, according to this postcard and Wutnxt, there was definitely an aquarium in Depoe Bay.

It seems the Silver Heron Gallery is where the old Aquarium used to be...

I saw the Sea Hag sign in the photo of the 57 Chevy, the owner also had a place in Newport, not sure this early but it is/was called Gracies.
We stay with our friends at their timeshare in Depoe Bay, it is near the north end of the sidewalk on the ocean side, about the area where the spouting horn photo was taken.
My wife and her friends like to have their once a trip Bloody Mary at the Sea Hag.

  22. We do the Bloody Mary's at the Sea Hag too! Must be a gal thing. We also have at least one lunch at Shuckers in Taft, my favorite coastal dive bar.

…. sighting the damsel at the top of the hill was one thing, however poor Bob just couldn't get it up for the occasion and is shown here actually going down hill instead of up. Just before the embarrassing decent and after a determined but albeit failed assault what with pedal to the metal and floating points, - grinning Bob could be heard muttering something about damn 272 or 292 … whatever that meant ? Oh … the young lady caught a ride from a guy in a Buick ….

Thanks Don, I just got a bit lucky and found some interesting pics to share. I'm not 100% sure the 'facts' that accompanied the pics are accurate - I'm kinda relying on the vast knowledge base here on the HAMB to provide any corrections necessary, but I'm pleased so many folks like 'em. Cheers.
