hi guys. Posted the other day about selling my recently deceased father's 1934 Ford project. Got some good info, but the post was deleted without warning or notice because the project was not sufficiently traditional to be discussed on HAMB. Didn't agree with how that was handled, but whatever. Not my club, I can't dictate the rules.

Question is, can somebody help refer me to an active forum where non-traditional rods can be discussed openly? I couldn't find one. I get what HAMB is and I'm not trying to change it, just need a point in the right direction to a resource I can use to sell the project for my mom.

So as not to upset anybody by having that which cannot be mentioned posted, please feel free to send a direct message rather than post a reply. If you don't know or don't like such non trad things, please just ignore this post rather than report it for deletion.

    Thanks in advance.

There are lots of places where a few guys talk about such things, but there isn't anything huge like the HAMB for non-traditional cars...that I know of....

    but try this

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. If anybody knows others, more are welcome. The more the better.
Of course, if anybody knows somebody interested in a '34 Ford non-traditional project, please feel free to get in touch via direct message.

  6. Since the post is now gone it is not possible to look and see why it was deleted. If I remember correctly it had an independent front suspension which is frowned upon but other than that the car was OK for HAMB. Not my cup of tea but a good place for someone to start. Is it possible you posted in the forum section when it should have been posted in the "For Sale" section? Sometimes I wish we would get a little more information when something is deleted, maybe just a sentence. The people moderating the forum have a tough job. Sorry about the loss of your father.

Hey Charlie, no, my understanding is that it was deleted due to non-traditional content. The nature of the post was more "help me value this and figure out how to sell" rather than "for sale", although I could understand some overlap there. But the post was deleted for being non-traditional as per a moderator comment. Crazy.

Btw, are there any "trad only" rules on classifieds? When I get to the point of posting an ad, HAMB would be a good resource due to the large number of members. I saw a 60s T-bird listed, so perhaps they are more lenient in that category?

Thanks 117harv. Sounds like the car would pass the test re classifieds if I understand correctly.

Sorry guys, look, the rules can be a bit confusing for an outsider and I'm just trying to sell a car for my mom. Try to imagine yourself in a similar situation. Go easy on me with the "you should have read the rules" business, okay? It doesn't exactly jump out that a 1934 Ford with non-traditional modifications would be kosher on the classifieds but not on the main forums.

I didn't get to see the original ad , but if an independent front suspension was the only killer for the ad , that's a shame . I mean , there are tons of 4-linked , air-bagged , sub framed , slammed-to-the-ground rides here on the HAMB that seem to get lots of play . If the car is not "too far gone" to the street rod side ;) it can probably be saved by a HAMBer and made traditional .

just my (worthless) 2 cents ...

So...Is the car fit for the classifieds? (just not the 'posts'?)

The way I see it, it is Ryan's site, and with the help of the moderators he is trying to keep all of us nutjobs on track of what he wants his site to be. I totally get that, if others don't, build up your own website and define it as you see fit.

As for the rules, there will ALWAYS be certain cars, comments, questions, parts that come close, but not quite. They have to decide which ones cross the line of too far. I don't envy that job in the least bit. Give them some slack and picture yourself having to define a TRADITIONAL car.

  17. It wasn't an ad for a car for sale. It was a post looking for opinions on how to proceed to sell, determine value and gather up the bits. If I remember right his parents lived in Arizona and he lived in Washington DC. Deceased Dad's '34 Ford sedan was in bits in a shop in Phoenix.

Personally I thought the thread would have had merit to a*****-load of middle-aged hot rodders, not to mention us geezers who are leaving this stuff behind. If this forum can't tolerate the traditional events that come along in everyones life (or death) then maybe the gentleman who owns the forum and his moderators might want to re-evaluate why it even exists. Just a suggestion - not taking a shot.

    No......

Fellow HAMB members will see it and continue to send reports to Moderators for being off topic.

It is more of a Street Rod.

Look - I don't mind helping anyone, but when repeated comments disagreeing on how things are run around here ( disrespectful to his cause) and (whatever ) comment and now again a separate post with negative comments (crazy) about deleted posts it turns into drama.

250,000 members, 2 or 3 of you will say make an exception.
More than that will send a report sayings it's off topic and want it deleted,
Or, others then think it's ok to post something slightly off topic.

Ryan1934 asked for help and fellow HAMB members and I gave a concensus on the approx value and website link suggestions are posted to look into.

Please look into those websites and try posing it for sale there. You were given a concensus approx value to try to work with.

    This post is now closed.

    Sorry for your loss.

    Respectfully,

    Moderator
