I was thinking you could leave it as is and put some serious horsepower in it to make it an epic sleeper. Can you imagine the look on someone's face after they get thier ass handed to them by that car/ truck WTF???[/QUOTE]
Sleeper lol with hella power . This thread is freakin hilariouse. This car doeas remind me of grandpa that made his own truck becuase he couldnt afford a proper truck. Anyways everyone has somthing to say about it cons and pros either way just it all up to the owner curently how you want it. Thats what makes these old cars really neat and that is the reason of car shows to show other ppls inagination of this hobby. Could be a parade thing with ol country girls thrown out candy in overall either fat ones or nice model ones. Or just make it a sleeper and hammer on a mustang and dont give a shit and laugh. Either way man ppl say it kool or ugky it looks like fun to me lol

Having grown up in rural Kansas in the 50's and 60's, I've seen a few similar rigs as a kid and hated them at the same time realizing someone with no monetary resources needed a PU and was adventuresome and innovative enough to do something like that, especially (and obviously) without automotive savvy or tools. My parents drove those toad-like or cow-like Mopars, un-altered, and they were something of an embarrassment to me since my friends' parents had Ford V8's and Buick V8's, etc.. Come to think of it, when I turned 13 1/2 (the age at which you could get a "learner's permit" in Kansas), our main family cars were a '49 and a '53 Dodge with a FH sixes, and it was a privilege to have anything to drive. But since those were what we rode to Scouts and church in in those good and gentle times, they now hold a charm for me. I've got an excellent '50 Plymouth 4dr that's not on my list of interesting projects, but I can now see how it would look as quick-build rig; more interesting than a 4dr. and no rear seat, etc to upholster. Oh, yeah, I'd build a nice sheet metal cab back and use the passenger car rear fenders, tail lights, etc. It could bring a good laugh for and be somewhat useful for me. olympic-speedsters.com

Bentley W12 twin turbo with 4L80E, very well engineered with body and chassis widened 8" to suit Jag suspension. I know not traditional however this is what the customer wanted. That grill looks like FUGLY nostrils!

  10. I built two hybrid trucks over the years, one a 68 Impala that was first scalped into an Elcamino , then later chopped completely off and a flat bed with a stake rack added. The second was a 74 LTD made into a flatbed. I may have a pic of the Chevy. My dad drove it for several years after I sold it to him !!!

i actually like the grill treatment, what's ugly is the lack of a mascot/radiator cap/ hood ornament and put the center hinge back in the hood, so those goofy hinges could get taken off..........maybe louver the hood?
