Checking out a theater building for sale in a neighboring town. It's listed for $35K. Could be a dream loft house....

Love the dumps! those caps you have are interesting. Brass? what is the inner, open piece for? I will have dumps on my 40, with cut-outs. Hurray for your Standard coupe!

That would be a deal if the old car went with the Property! The old car looks to be in fair shape, but the front spring has busted down!

Thanks, these are actually made of steel. The flash gave them a yellowish look. The open pieces get welded to the dump pipes, and the caps get bolted on.

  17. I needed this like I needed a hole in my head, but...I traded rust bucket '54 F100 for this '40 Deluxe mordor today. Lot's of '70's backyard engineering that needs to be addressed, but should be able to make a beater/driver out of it.

I've not spent a whole lot of time assessing it's "needs" yet, but an altitude adjustment is definitely on the "to do" list. AdamCole3.jpg AdamCole4.jpg

That should be a fun project. I have owned one more door and have had some good chances to own 3 others at reasonable prices...... maybe I will get another some day. For now I would settle for watching a thread by bchrismer as he he chops a few inches from the ride height of this one.:)

  20. After looking at several original fenders, none were satisfactory so I bought a new Dennis Carpenter fender.
Here's the new fender (drivers side) next to the old fender (pass side) checking the radius. I had to open up the fender opening on the new fender because the fenders on my 40 have been radiused.

I also am interested in this, for future reference just in case. Right now my son is doing a floor replacement on an OT Mustang, and lots of the pieces aren't quite as good on fit as we would like.

Mine is off to the shop today, going to replace the flames that were on it when we got it. Lynn makes a statement that "flames on a '40 make them stand out in a crowd" and I agree. An old friend of mine Roger Ford used to say, "40s come in two styles, one with flames and one without". My generation, graduated high school in '60, knew flame jobs as the ultimate back in the day hot rod statement. And '40 Fords were the ultimate recipient of flames, seemed to be a natural extension of Henry's design. Probably not so much today but I do what I like, hell I have the rope burns of life to give me permission. Should be able to post pictures end of next week. Actually found a striper/shop that would do a turnaround since the car was repainted a year ago (bc/cc) and the flame application is the only thing they are doing.

Thanks for reminding me of pewsplace. His 40 article is great. And what fantastic examples he posted. I'll take the Yosemite green deluxe coupe. That color is very high on wish list for the paint on my 40. Would you guys choose Yosemite green or 56-7 Chevy Laurel green?
