An interesting phone call 3 days ago lead me to drive to bristol tn today. A guy heard I " mess with old fords" and let me know his mom bought a building resently and it's "full of old ford stuff she wants gone". So being like every red blooded American I jumped in the truck to take a look.

Real quickly I should say I resently decided I wanted to build my 31 with pre 50 ford parts as far as my wallet would allow.

I get to bristol and drive up to what looks like a ww2 aircraft hanger ( you know one of the the tin can half buried in the ground deals) get out and meet a ladie in her mid 60s. She slides open the door and I'm greeted by 11 flathead motors on pallets turn the corner and there is banjo rear ends in different states of completeness. A row of 39 and 40 three speeds.... there has to be 10 cars worth of 40 to 48 parts from interior breaks engine parts. 35 ford 94 carbs in the first box I opened. Then I came accross the block letter edlebrock heads. A transfer truck would have to make another trip to clean this place out.

I start asking about pricing, mentally cherry picking the entire drive train and suspention to my now ( atleast in my head) complete 100 precent ford AV8 hotrod. When she informed me that she didn't want to sell just a few pieces, it's all or nothing. Now I'm not rich and I don't have a ww2 aircraft hanger to turn into my own personal greese ford treasure chest but I knew I "wanted" one :).

We talked for a while she cursed me, I stormed away.... I came back, she playes the "there is another guy waiting if you don't buy" card. And finally yours truly bought way to many beautiful greese covered ford treasures.

I will be going on Sunday with a Uhaul a camera and a friend to start cleaning it out. I have no clue what all could be there.

Pictures and a whole lot of classified listing to come.

A good day of messing with old car stuff.

I figured you guy might like the storie

Just think.... someone collected all treasured those parts over a lifetime
    and now it's all disposable.
Lesson to be learned, I think.
    Wonder why she cursed you?

    • Drive over there right now, pay her in full, get a receipt.
    • Lock the building with your padlock. You don't want anyone in there cherry picking the Edelbrock stuff, etc.
You need to do this before she tells a friend or family member, gets second thoughts, changes her mind. It's not really yours until you pay for it and get a receipt-and ultimately take possession.

I thought I was going to read that she'd "consider your offer". Many times, a seller will take the initial offer and simply use it as a bidding starting point with the next folks that come to look at the parts or car that's for sale.

This happens a lot. Someone thinks they made a deal on an old car in a shed. The owner starts talking to people and researching the internet. Next thing you know it's listed on ebay.

I would take tomorrow off and grab 3-4 friends (or hire a couple of day laborers) to help with the heavy lifting, and be done with it. Sleep good and have all weekend to catalog the treasure. Great find-post pics of the hut and parts!

Sneak peek of a few things I picked up as I was walking out the door.

I have a bill of sale and there is a padlock on the door.

I'm not sure how many speed parts are going to be in there but I can't wait to find out. Even if it's mostly stock stuff I should be fine.
