Ansens' center (hub) area is raised. Whereas on Fentons, the center area is below the surrounding surface.

  2. Almost all the Fenton's I've seen say Fenton Gyro on the backside, same goes for Ansen Sprints. Also Ansen Sprints at least early production that use a 4 or 5 ear center cap had serial numbers stamped on the backside. But I know the 16" Ansen Sprints didn't have any info on the backside and the webbing looks very similar to these 4". There's another thread on "rare wheels" that shows the backside of the 16" x 10". If you find that you can compare the castings of each.

    X3^^^^^^^
Sorry no photos, lost the whole pack of them in the 80's.
I had a pair of 15x3.5 in. and 15x8 in. Ansen Sprints on my 65 Malibu drag car when I was just a pup in the early 70's, couldn't afford Halibrands so painted them light satin gold, looked pretty good.
I got the front ones in a trade for a pair of Keystone 15x3.5's that came on a 64 Malibu 2 dr. wagon that I had, they are both pretty rare nowadays.

Well. I thought from the earlier posts that the wheels my father in law had for his 56' Ford were the Cragar Grand Prix. I pulled them out if the basement and did some more carful looking at them. I saw some numbers stamped in the centre so I put them in the blast cabinet for a minute. All I found was 14x6 jk. I blasted the back of the spokes and did not see anything at first but just as I was going to put them away I found the Keystone logo. I did a quick bit of searching tonite and I am fairly confident they are Keystone Kustomflite aluminum and steel composite wheels. They are a bit rough but with some clean up and paint should be fine. Structurally they look fine. Here are the pictures I took of them.

Now I know that this thread was front wheels and my previous post was about some 14x6 wheels planned to be on the front of my father in laws 56' Ford. We have those figured out but I am still trying to figure out the rear wheels he has. I have done a bunch of looking around and these Torque thrust clones seemed closest to the Fenton Hustlers but there is no Fenton name or any other name to identify them. The only thing I can find on them is a little logo or crest cast into the back. I am hoping someone can identify them. Here is the logo/crest.

Could this be the logo for Crestline Wheels? There is very little info on the web for Crestline.
    Here are some overall pictures.

The wheels will be used regardless of what brand they are but it is cool to know what we can on them.Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I believe that is the Crestline Crest on your wheels.

I just mounted up my combo for the front of my 55' Gasser project. I picked up some old Cragar SS 15x4" wheels and some NOS Michelin 185x15 redline radials. The old Cragar chrome is not perfect but they still look good to me.

Those look great. What is the gold finish on the centre sections?

  15. It's just bare aluminum.
The glass-beading process turned the stock spun aluminum finish into a coarse sandpaper finish, like a freshly cast intake manifold.
Later, I'll paint them metallic gray to match my similarly polished & painted ET 5-spokes.

  16. rocket1.jpg I just picked up a pair of 15x4 Rockets, love the sharp edge on the spoke

If those are small Ford pattern you better chain them down or I might 'borrow' them for my car. ;) :D

  18. Don't know if this is the right place to post this. But I am looking for one good 15x4 uni-lug SS Cragar. Thanks, Gene.

  19. I had 3 pair of skinny aluminum slots so I lined them up for comparison. Ansen Sprints on the right but I don't know who made the other 2.

    Hey Kev
Those front wheels on the roadster you posted on the "stars and stripes" thread; are those some of the NZ or OZ mfg ones, never seen them before.
If I didn't know better I'd think someone was missing their yard cart wheels.

  21. They are Dragway wheels made by Ian Splatt (Australia) in the 70's. They are shown earlier in this thread.

Figured I'd try to bring this thread back to the top. Saving these for a project. Magnesium 15x4.5 fronts and 15x10 rears. They are Canadian made Wells Wheels from London, Ontario foundry.
