I want to share this story here - it's the same one I posted on the Scout build thread, but works so well on both...

I live 100' behind a small town Home Hardware that is getting renovated and last night I stopped to ask the contractor if they do residential renos... they do and the owner of the company "Brad" came over to have a look. He saw the race car trailer in the drive so - being guys - the talk turned to cars and hot rods. It turns out he's building a 29 Essex with a 6 carb 392 hemi... old school style, and his kid is building a 32 coupe also with a 392 hemi... and ... (wait for it) - they want to bring both cars to some event called - The Meltdown Drags when they are done. My ever patient saint of a wife rolled her eyes, shook her head and mumbled something like - Oh great... now you've done it... then went in to grabs us some beverages.

Less than a minute later (would have been faster but we had to slow down for the beer the wife was bringing) Brad is in my rec room looking at trophies, posters and magazine coverage from the Meltdown event. He gazed in wide wonder at the joy he had found. (George Thorogood - Bad to the Bone) 2 minutes later Brad went and got his son from the build site... The 2 of them spent 1/2 an hour looking at the Meltdown stuff and asking about the event. I told him the best part is the "spin and grin" that everyone does Saturday around noon... this is where you stand in the pits and turn circles trying to gather it all in... I even suggested he come down with us this year without a car just so he can see the event from a spectator's point of view (I never have)... It's the only place in the world where a blown big block 41 Willys or a straight axle 55 Chevy - is almost routine... And I say that with the utmost respect.

Of course we ended up in the garage to look at the Scout. Of course - he remembers it from back in the 70's when his uncle took him to the old drag strip (Keystone / Bison)... and - of course ... he also remembers the 73 HotRod Yearbook it was featured in - and - because that's the kind of story this is - he still has the magazine...

When he decided to get back to work I sent them on their way with a Scout shirt and one of my extra Meltdown shirts. My wife watched them go and then casually mentioned that Brad and his son were here for almost an hour and no-one had looked at the house... Oops ...

No that is actually my car making those revving noises. Nice catch though, obviously only a trained ear could have picked up on the tug boat correlation. And you are right because it is going to be tugging, towing, and dragging just about anything lined up against it this Summer. The only real problem I have left, since it will be so far ahead of the Shaker, is getting the damn fog horn installed so Scott has something to follow! :p:p:p

The only thing I'm going to follow,is in the footsteps of my decisive 2014 victory over some other dude who made lots of big claims about how fast his car was,and how bad he was gonna beat me.

In case you don't know the story,he couldn't back up all the talk either...;)

Did some test runs again with the Falcon the other evening. I put some more fuel in the tank because I knew I was going to be driving it around a little. When I started to do a burnout/launch it went straight like it did 2 nights before. I did 3 more launches later in the evening. The last 3 the car now wants to go to the left and ultimately wants to take me to the ditch. Nothing that I can see has changed on the car and nothing has come loose. Has this happened to anyone else on here. Still trying to get use to the car.
