Features The '40/41 Pickup

Here's my old one, built it in the early 80's, sold it in the mid 90's to a buddy in Iowa. Should have kept it. This picture is a couple months old. It's still got the Lucite acrylic paint I shot on the cab, hood and front fenders.

Do Panels count? This is my friend's '40 1/2 ton commercial truck. Lives just outside of town from me.

 

Did you ever finish your 38 coupé Ryan? Last time I heard anything you were swapping the SBC for a flathead. Looked like a nice car. Are there any pictures?

I picked up this really nice 41 a couple years ago, for $700.

A 35-40 car chassis, a 40-47 pickup cab, a 40-41 pkp hood, and you are done; except for the drive train which I'm sure you can figure out. Folks in MO will take care of a bed and you could use glass rear fenders... fronts, too, for that matter but could probably snag a pair of 40 fenders off a car and make them work. Don't try to make a 42-47 chassis work.
COULD build one on that 38 chassis that is sitting there... just sayin'

Cleaning my garage, and found a box of Rodders Journal's lost in the last move.

I was literally re-reading the article on Barnett's pickup when I opened this thread. Weird.

I've always loved that truck. I've always wanted a 40-41 pickup, but am unfortunately to tall and too wide to make one a daily commuter. Only time I've wished I was short.

All these photos of beeautiful trucks are killing me. . . . . !!!!!

 

I have yet to figure out how you guys stuff such big motors int ot these things. I guess I have much to learn.

I see I'll be busy for a while. They really do make a nice "couple"...

 

Always wanted one. When I was looking for one to buy, I saw this "Shop Truck" and it was exactly what I wanted. Owned it for several years now. Always fun cruising around in it.
