Customs Merc chop progress with compiled project pics

I got my 2 yards of dark green carpet today.

 

I got one of the inner panels for the door panel upholstered.

 

Started the tuck n roll for the door panel. Got that far and remembered that I didn't glue the backing on the foam...

 

Shortly the merc is going to get rolled out of its long resting place to start finishing the chop!!!

 

That front end looks fantastic!

 

She out in the sun!!

 

So I ended up relieving the corners of the rear window and pushed up the center about 3/4 of an inch.
So I may luck out and not have to cut out the opening if I can make it stay up.

 

Got the corners welded and got the inner braces reinstalled.
With the prop rod out, the roof seemed to stay and it looks like the window is going to fit!!!

Then the quarter window.

Just 1 windshield post left.

 

Lookin good Ryan. Can't wait to see some more progress!

Got the other windshield post welded and decided to test fit the dash. Hasn't been in the car in over ten years.

 

Glad the rear window worked out with just those relief cuts. A lesson for me to remember....try something easy first before panicking and doing something drastic. [emoji6]

 

I'm pretty happy that it worked. I was about to cut it out when I thought just try it.

 

Can't believe it's almost 10 years since I chopped it. Maybe it will be drivable by thanksgiving.

LOL....I still got ya beat. Started my '64 Pontiac in '84, it's still not done.

 

Just got home with this last night! Long trip but worth it. A 80's Worth 140 bend-o-matic exhaust bender.
It's going to be fun to do the exhaust in the merc and the 59.

 

The Pontiac needs exhaust (and short dumps like your pickup)...

 

Got to get a seal in the main cylinder to stop the leak and I will be bending. Tried it last night and it works good!

 

I got the top cylinder resealed, installed a new power cord, Bonneville decals placed.

And the merc is back on the lift for exhaust.

Anyone out there have some 52-53 Cadillac exhaust tips?

 

Got the passenger side exhaust ran. Rebuilt the hanger and got it ran so it will exit through the bumper.
