Seems very odd to have fashion models (and ballerinas) in a Hearst advertisement.

I bought a building about 25 yrs. ago to use for storage and I knew there had been a gas station there years ago. A friend found this picture of the property from the '20's.

This photo brings back some memories for me, since I was born in Hollywood and went to both Hollywood High and Fairfax High School. This was on the corner of Sunset and La Brea. I met Bill Naylor as a kid, on Catalina Island. He owned a restaurant in Avalon. He was called Tiny because he was well over 6 feet tall and must have weighed close to 400 pounds.

Tiny's first restaurant in L.A. was called Biff's - named after his son, in 1948. The Tiny Naylor chain started in the the late 1940's or early 1950's at Wilshire and Virgil. I believe that Tiny Naylor died in 1959. The Naylor family also founded Du Par's coffee shops, which I believe they still own and operate, at least the ones that are left.
