If only old pictures could talk just think what stories they all could tell us.
I have always loved looking at old signage work from years ago because it was very simplistic and straight forward.

Wow Maggie, the Sunset VW and Porsche building shown is still in use as a Nissan dealership. Heard it was a VW store prior but never saw any pics of it until now. Thanks! I'm employed by the auto group that has the building now. It's an absolute unproductive hassle trying to maneuver Nissan SUV's, somewhat full size trucks and vans inside a service department designed around the dimensions of a Beetle. We typically work on the big stuff outside. Cool to see the shot.

Noticed the open-air car hoist - what was left over from the burgers went in the sedans?

 

My bus was purchased from Sunset new in 1974 (and then as a used vehicle a year later by my grandfather). I had it serviced a couple of times early on when Riviera Motors was still downtown on Front Ave., then switched to Harold Dick as my mechanic when I found out Riviera didn't really do what they were charging me for - that building was a serious pain to get in and out of.

Hello. I'm new to the forum as a member, but have been reading this thread for quite some time now. I plan on sharing some pictures from my father's history. I'll try to share information about the pictures when possible. Some will be old postcards and some will have been taken by him personally. Most pictures will be from the 50's and 60's.

I am going to start with postcards. I can't guarantee that they won't be duplicates since they are postcards after all, but these were all scanned from photo albums.

Many times I have contacted Truly Nolan's front office, to purchase one of their old cars. Always the same response: Truly Nolan buys many old cars, BUT we don't sell any. So HOW was the Ala Kart used by TRULY, then repurchased. Did they rent it or something? The head office says they own all their own cars and HAVE had a few stolen..?
