Could be. Convert or woodie, it's worth dragging home......Especially since it's free.

 

Come on Ron, T coupes are like bellybuttons, everybody has one. Now, a '40 LaSalle coupe is a different story. That one doesn't seem to be missing to many things and what's there looks pretty good. Drop in a '59 Caddy 390/325hp or even an improved '63 Caddy 390/325hp that has the distributor up front coupled with a 700R4 and you have a classy cruiser that you can haul the grandkids in cross-country, if you wanted. I think the LaSalle line went away after '41, too.

 

Even comes with its own shade tree for when you're parked on that hot asphalt at the cruise-in.

 

Came across this while mountain biking today; there are also a couple of fenders and part of the bed nearby.

 

Dang if you don't have all the fun, Ron! The bullet nose Stude deserves better.

 

ha ha, If every time I saw a cooler car, and I would get it, I would never finish a project. It takes me to long anyway. I think you need it! lol The Nomad is our Road trip car. The T will be Our Drag coupe car. And chevy dude, your right, you need to save that poor Studebaker.{ Really?} covering it with artificial flowers, No respect! lol Ron...

 

HEHEHEH! Now I know why I'm so far behind on everything. Actually, I'd like to put a cruiser like that together, but I've got my coupe totally torn apart and I'm trying to refurbish it and get it back on the road. Then, I have four more projects waiting in line. Quite frankly, I don't think I'm going to get to all of them. I ain't gettin' any younger!

This was a free be, we drug home. It was laying in a river bottom. Gave it to a friend who was building a 34. Sad to see it like this, wish someone would have found it sooner. Ron...

 

That's a pretty good find in any condition. Have any other pics of it?

 

Finally managed to get a shot of this one. Not sure of year and model. But I feel confident this one will sit for a while.

Sitting is what I'm doing after carting away the piles of rotting matter away from dad's T.
They're only original once.

 

Not sure what we're going to do yet have to finish current project first but picked up a nice grill for it and keep looking for parts

Here are a couple of shots of my 1934 Standard Chevrolet Coupe Utility when I first layed eyes on it back in 1988. It sat in that same paddock for another 16 years before a friend was able to put me onto who owned it. The coupe utility consisted of the front half of a coupe grafted to back of a pickup bed. The bed sides were blended into the body. I believe the first of its type was a 1929 Pontiac built by Holden. Holden built all the Bodies for the Australian GM vehicles including my ute and my sedan soon to to be coach.

 

To this day I have wondered what ever became of the tray, probably made into a trailer, I am just glad they did not cut the chassis in half to get at it. I think there were just ten of these produced in 1934 as Standards, mine sits on top of a 35 Standard Chassis, so that makes it rarer still.

 

I did manage to source a hood for it along with a replacement tray. Other than sandblasting and undercoating the chassis, adding a late model diff and wheels and building a basic RHS frame for the tray and cab, Its more or less the same as when I first found it.

 

As well as Coupe Utilities, Roadster utilities were also produced. The one shown here is also a 34.

 

I really like this conv ute.
