  1. This is a original 1932 Ford owners manual,a little worn but it's only 84 years old.

And the original owners manual for our '54 Ford, they are pretty small and also well worn. HRP

I have never been able to find a manual for my 1914 Olds...this is about as close to anything I can find ....I think most people were still thinking a "blacksmith" could fix or repair the cars 100+ years ago in the early teens....or a bicycle repair shop:confused:....and of course, the Great War was just starting up, so I doubt there ever was a manual ...at least as far as I can tell....be cool to actually find one though. 1914-oldsmobile-ad.jpg

and I have old ones for my 55 and my trucks, but I need to get one for the Chevy II. Or maybe not, since almost nothing on it is original.

Yes, I do. Whenever I buy an old car or truck, one of the first things to get is an owners manual, along with a factory shop manual and assembly manual.

  12. From my first car. Paid $35 for it in 1965. Rebuilt Flathead V-8 from Sears, '54 DeSoto grille, '56 Olds tailights. Sadly I sold the car many yrs. ago, but kept the owner's manual.:D 06272016_0002.jpg

Many of them are re-popped now. An original manual came with my 37, and it was wrapped in a "vintage" shop rag with period advertising on it, even! I kept that when the car was sold. For my 29 A coupe I want one again, and have been considering having a faux version worked up that looks vintage, but has the correct specs, fluid levels, diagrams, etc. for the coupe as built versus stock. This was in the glove box of my '40.

    This was under the seat:

Just like my car, I'd have to build/make an owners manual for it to be useful. Because I've always started with junk, and pretty much modified everything that was left, an owners manual has not ever been a very high priority.
I do have one for my 93 Dakota and one for the wife's 04 PT, for whatever that's worth. Gene

  24. I believe most of us that have a owners manual or have purchased one do so without regard to the technical information within the pages but more for the simple fact that one exist.

And your right, they are basically useless after the car has been modified and only have minor
    intrinsic value. HRP

I wish my wife had come with one. There is still stuff I cant figure out how to use, or fix it when it breaks down.

Yes I do I also put a pair of gloves in my glove boxes! I did it as a joke, my friends always say I'm anal so one time at a cruise night I said "YES I AM" I'm so anal I put gloves in my glove box! I have one buddy that still checks from time to time to see if they are still in there that was over 20 years ago! Joe

All is good. I have no glove box to go along with no owners manual. At least I'm consistent.

Oldsjoe, I think there is a pair of gloves in the glove box of my Dakota, along with the owners manual, so I'm even more consistent then I first thought!

There is no way I'm going to see what my wife has in the glove box of her PT. She came without an owners manual too! After 40 years of marriage, I don't believe there is any "fix" for her, I only know of some things not to do. LOL! Gene

My Dad had the original owner's manual for the '37 Ford tudor flatback...I asked questions about the car, and he referred me to this little book.
He didn't say it was in the 'glove compartment', though...he called it the 'Jockey Box'!

Mike, I was always under the impression that the jockey box was located between the buckets in a muscle car and the glove box was located just below the "oh jezuz" strap.

There's "dispatch box" as well. I understand glove box ... I understand "dispatch box" ...I know jockeys are small, but ??????
I started collecting owner's manuals when in grade school, probably have several hundred by now.
