Nice job, ya ain't smelling too bad either...lol...keep it up!!

  3. I gotta be careful here, it's not very traditional: I'm considering a T5, mostly for the overdrive and reliability. I'm keeping the flathead though. It's a good runner.

Got some nice clips, plugs, grommets out of it too...
It came from a '93 Lexus.... lots of wire to help me do a lot of jobs in the future.... considering it was free,
    I thought why not?

    cheers, Mudgy

after 7000 mls got very tired of the mis matched clutch release bearing and the borg and beck style pressure plate. unless someone has a better idea i think we will go back to the old ford 3 finger long style pressure plate behind the T5.

obviously happy as my wife got to take her shoebox ford on its first debut run to a hot rod breakfast after a very major 3 1\2 year rebuild. No this was not the breakfast venue.

  10. Got my exhaust done on the '59 late in the day yesterday. Stopped in at a local cruise, just a few cars since it was overcast. May take a run down by the ocean to a Sunday cruise... need to see locally who wants to ride shotgun....

I sanded body filler until my arms felt like they were going to fall off. Ready for some more primer. Hope to be ready for color in another week or so.

Updated, I also had the joy of discovering that I need to redo the battery cables on my 37. Went out to start it, and turning the key did nothing. No headlights, not even dash or dome lights. Got my cables out to jump it, and found the ground side wire had fallen out of its terminal. Wasn't crimped, looks like whoever built it tried to solder it in place, without enough heat to do the job, and nowhere near enough solder, so it was really just kinda tacked in place. A quick squeeze with my channel locks fixed it good enough for now, and the "things I need to do" list got another item added to it.

Made it to my friends house a few minutes later than planned, then down to Morris cruise night. Most of the 750+ cars were OT muscle cars and some modern stuff, but here are a few HAMB friendly ones.

I love the thrifty thing, it appeals to the farm kid in me... The electronics technician in me must warn all to he careful when using modern wiring, which is very small, and is primarily used to handle low amperage for communications, relay signals, etc. The amp loads on our older cars will eventually lead to wiring issues unless proper gauge wiring is used... Grounds must be sized according to size of load..a ground that gets hot could be undersized.
Excellent job recycling, the larger wires are of the most interest to you.

Today, on topic, I promise. Using the methods laid out over this post, we are fixing the bad brackets, and installing the new bumper. Although the customer said nothing, brakes are spongy and low, consequently on the list. I will replace the ignition switch, and rebuild the stuck distributor, which is causing a hard start when warm. IMG_20160710_141918_hdr.jpg

New day more metal fab I figured it was going Smooth and I was on a roll so day two of cutting and welding I'm about 40% done with rust repair on this old Buick I'm kinda surprised it's going so smooth. I just knocked on some wood . At this rate I'll be done welding by Wednesday or so as I don't work anymore so I have all the time in the world I don't like tooting my own horn but I must say after I got gas for my welder my welding has gotten perfect almost. I learned to weld years ago and haven't done it in about 3-4 years but the machine I used to us was gas my current wasn't till about a month ago I wish I started welding sooner with it gas makes all the difference. Here's a few pictures of today's work area. For those not knowing how to weld see I cut the rusted area out and went a bit further so I had good metal then I took some cardboard and trimmed to fit in my hole after it fits perfectly take a tad bit more off so you have a small gap to weld in then take your cardboard to your new sheet of metal then trace around it with a permanent marker then cut out your shape clean your Edge's. Coat your welding area with weld threw primer and your patch with weld threw primer then get it in place I use magnets to hold these small ones then tack it in a few spots remove magnet and go to town remember not to weld to much in one place so your metal doesn't distort I've had it pull away from the other side before then you need to start over. Well, since this thread was started yesterday I'll comment on that. Got up, sat around wishing there was something to do in Fresnothing for most of the morning/afternoon. Around 6:30 I went for a bike ride and ended up at Royalshifter's house. We STS for about 15 minutes and then I headed down the block to another HAMB'ers place (can't remember his screen name) and did the same. Rode home, watched the tube, went to sleep. I'll most likely be repeating this today because, Fresnothing. BTW, here's my new ride.............................

Muttley, you could have marched in the BLM march. That would have gotten you close to home by the end, wouldn't it? And just in time for beddy bye time.

I made my own floor pans. I used some #16 cold rolled and cut and spot welded. Came out pretty decent. I always use a seam sealer(sloppy on this but it cleans away) Can you get an entire floor pan for yours or do you have to piece it together?

Hope the pictures help you out.

I actually haven't looked at pans yet...not much rust in mine. I am more distracted by the bent frame...gonna have to buy one...deciding on front suspension, do I keep the old corvette rear...these are my questions right now.

I had a productive weekend. I sold a car and installed header flange gaskets on my 442. That bolt under #8 cost me some skin on my arms but a lot quieter now with a new set of RemFlex's in place.

With regards to the former task, I hope you will continue to call me Bandit even though I am officially banditless for the first time in quite a few years...and probably staying that way. She is officially south bound and down.

Yesterday; Got up at 7, had coffee, fed the dogs, cleaned the pool, patio and patio furniture in preparation for my daughter's 18th B-day party & sleepover with a half dozen of her friends . Then took the '56 210 for a little run to Mom's and the market, it hasn't been out since I replaced all the battery cables and patched some holes in the firewall. Back to Mom's to drop off her groceries then home. It runs and drives perfect, finally.
Today; Got up at 7, made coffee, fed the dogs (quietly - don't want to wake the princess and her entourage) ordered a vacuum modulator from Summit and went out to the shop to put the Austin on the hoist to change out the valve body. I felt bad about making too much noise, so I delayed firing up the Austin and instead cleaned off the work benchs and finally remembered to call a fellow HAMBer about the '56 parts he offered me.
I probably shoulda got up earlier and went to the car show & swap meet in Stockton..... oh well, at least I have a clean work bench.
