Wanted the Calii but didn't have the sizes and didn't like the whitewall not coming up to the rim . Got Diamond backs on the wife's coupe ! No problem over 9000 miles

Gotta read my post on the first page...you can send them the tires you want to use and they'll do their thing to them for a discounted (since you supply the tires) price. From the look of the tires on the truck just posted, it looks like the do go to the rim. Am I right or is it just the picture?

  4. They don't go to the rim. But it's not noticeable. It's maybe an 8th of an inch from the rim.

  5. I don't know where the Burg is. I do know that lots of people in Lebanon, MO got in trouble with the Feds for "Zeroing" speedometers/odometers in the '80s. It is still known as "The Rollback Capitol of the World." :D :D :D

Diamond Back does vulcanized whitewalls it is nothing new and when done well it is as good as any other whitewall tire. I have never heard of Cali Whitewalls, maybe their product is OK. I do know that good tires are not cheap.

Especially if it's something helpful. Never hurts to see the process of a topic, right?..

  12. I enjoyed watching it. I saw a couple of things that could easily be changed to streamline the process. But to date other then vulcanized tire patching (not glue on patches) I have only seen photos of the process. Anyway interesting.

I figured people wold like it since I'm sure most people haven't seen it. It surprises me that jlb3s' tires are yellowing with that stain blocker strip though. Like I said earlier, I think they look a little better with a tiny bit of tint as opposed to paper white

Wow! That's a lot of work with big machines! Now I understand why it costs money! I have seen tire retreading operations it is about the same process. I didn't realize they did whitewalls the same way.

I just found this thread. I am looking for a set of four WWW for my '51 Chevy. The Calitire website says they use Hankook Kinergy passenger tires for their core tire. I can't verify the Calitire but I got a set of OEM Hankook tires on my '09 F-150 that I purchased new from the dealer. Those Hankook steel belted radials went 99,600 miles on one set and 104,700 miles on the other. When I decided to replace them I went back to Ford and purchased the same tires. Hankook tires are made in Taiwan and are a major supplier to automobile manufacturers worldwide.

I'm running Calli's on my Jet. I have less than a thousand miles on 'em so far, but I have no complaints, the company was easy to work with, and they were delivered to me quicker than anticipated.

My buddy bought a set. I told him not to. They turned brown. So he had to sand them to bring back the white. They turned brown again. Less than 1000 miles on them. Does anybody want to buy a used set of Cali`s.

Calli Tire is not doing customer-supplied-tire whitewall applications any more.
Must buy their (Hankook) tires, (to which they add the white sidewall).
    Due "...to insurance/liabilities issues".

And also maybe because of this.

I bought a set of Cali whitewalls and put them on 32 three window and just sitting in the garage they turned brown and I couldn't scrub them enough to make them white. I gave up and ordered a set of diamondbacks and they are great. I've learned my lesson. I'm saving the Cali brown walls for an extreme patina build that they might look at
home on with some rusty wheels. The other tire in the picture is a diamondback.
