So, the coupe got driven today for the first time really... I drove it the 35 miles or so to Cato's shop. It's a straight shot down an old country road, but the car did great...
Sirius is antiquated and so am I. A young gun programmed the thing to play channel 5 which is the first generation of rock n roll, and that is what wifie and I listened to both trips to and from CA. The only thing I can stream is my urine, and the pressure is low ! We would like to get that '40 roadworthy, but it is so much fun ONCE we finally arrive on the West coast in the Deuce. Shit, I am like a kid in a candy store when we cruise PCH or visit the Early Ford Store. My grandson is so embarrassed when I pull out my FLIP PHONE in front of his friends, but we intend to cruise 'till we can't, and then I guess we will send the hotrods down the road to someone who can enjoy them. Deep down I still want to build a flathead-powered '27 highboy for playing around town. Not sure of that one coming to fruition. You know, living here is pretty neat because we are one hour from Austin Speed Shop and this really well-preserved drive-in hamburger joint. That town comes alive on the weekends with rides of all kinds, plus the LSRU. I hope we never lose it. Well, take care there, Hitchhiker. Be talking to ya on the HAMB. Gary
Ryan, that must have been tough to drive and fly the drone at the same time -probably why you drift towards the centerline a bit... vic
Here's a sneak peek... The material came from a period seat cover that Keith has been saving for years. Cato cut the seat covers up and then used the material appropriately. This shitty cell phone picture doesn't do it justice... It's so right in this car.
I like it too. Rattled me some when the 'T' Touring chap said he preferred the '30-'31s to the '28-'29s! That's like a roadster guy saying he prefers a 'rod that can provide a roof overhead'. Of course, the Roof Overheads were nothing to be taken lightly... Well? This thread got way off the track on crate motors, 5 speeds, and some other...
I've been in the dark on most every aspect of this car. For example, what is that, a stock Model A steering wheel? I expect it's close to complete now.
