Been moving pretty slow since I finished the 52 GMC and it's been hot here to, so the big project for the day is put tiedown rings in the bed, sucks to drill holes in the beautiful red oak, but better than stuff sliding around and banging up the new paint.

Rented a fork-lift and started putting my bend Pac lift together. The parts are pretty heavy. Next week I will finish it .

  5. Gassed up the '59 and the fuel gauge seems to be fine. Dumped 17.5 gallons into a 20 gallon tank. Took the day off since I have unlimited sick time. Did the doctor appointment and went for a ride in the Ford. Pretty hot out at 89* and humid. Got stuck in a construction zone, temp creeped up to 200* so a shroud is in my future.

  6. Saturday my wife and I took the roadster for a 250 mile (round trip) ride for burgers and ice cream. Man, it was a great day to be on Wisconsin's back roads!!

  7. Patched 16 holes in my front fenders and welded up a few cracks . Then wheeled out the two door panels while I had a friend over on the English wheel then tipped the edges . Next is the cab corners . Hot here today , 113 on the front porch . Well it is summer in Texas . Blue

I had a mostly on topic day, with progress on my 38, and on a customer owned F85. I also had a visit today from a local police officer, We spent a nice lunch hour under the hood of the Willy's, and he told me of his 52 Dodge m30...is that right?
He invited me down to the country to see his truck, maybe go shooting a little, And I told him of this wonderful message board, invited him to join, and said maybe I could come help him with his transfer case, maybe shoot a little. I wonder what he will think of my octagon barrelled muzzleloader, or when I build a little fire to mold a few rounds. It fascinates gun people.

    Note:
Paper towels will make serviceable coffee filters!
Spent 3 hours removing spiral grooved packing ring on my flattie!
I found it interesting that you can research this "issue" and find dozens of articles and comments about installing a new one but no-one (except flathead Jack) ventured a comment about getting one off! Of course FJ's comment was remove the crank and pull the crank gear...great!

Today, Max Gearhead, my son, and I drove across state to pick up this powered bead roller from Shane at Baileigh. Then got home and put it together. Been a busy week....now I have to get something done! 20160715_184844.jpg

    Thanks much, Shane!

  15. Acquired an old Excaliber engine hoist off of sme guy on craigslist. Filled the ram and most of the oil leaked out of the realise screw hole over night. Checked to make sore that I had the screw tight. (it was) So did a little research and went to HF and picked up the 8 ton air over long ram with a 20% off coupon. Went right on. Nice! Now back to the car today.

I realize that I am new here, and probably not aware of some of the social niceties that I should be following. Today I watched a thread I started just disappear before my eyes. I can only assume it was considered off topic, as nothing was mentioned. Perhaps, I offended, if so then I am truly sorry, as my only intention was humor.
In any case, I will consider myself unfunny, and will no longer be starting new posts. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Today........ I resisted temptation. I was going to do a short cut on my project, but good old common sense kicked in. Man, this Hot Rod shit is crazy sometimes.

If it was off topic, then that's what happens. Don't go away mad.

  19. Lamented once again that I have to wait until I receive my social security check in order to get my new wheel cylinders for my 1931 DB coupe.

I will be abel to fudge a little when I replace the door skins . Will work on that to tomorrow then do the cab corners. Almost time to start leading. I made zero progress on the RPU however I did finish a 3 day marathon bathroom renovation that turned out real nice.
Gotta keep my beautiful Texas bride happy and the bathroom really needed the work.

Back to the RPU soon :)

Pounded about half the dents out of a set of seventies vintage Kustom 351 Cleveland headers for my Boss 351 Falcon.
Hard, sweaty work, but worth it, they are starting to look pretty good. The pass side is pretty much ready for coating, but the drivers side needs more work. I think I am going to need to round up a 1 3/4" steel ball, drill a hole in it for a cable, and yank it through two of the tubes with a slide hammer...

Spent most of yesterday at Meltdown Drags, checking out some cool cars, and watching some racing.

Stacked firewood, a ten yard dump truck showed up with some primo firewood, took all day and I'm too old to work at manual labour all day, but got it done, heat in my shop for the winter. Life is good, feelin old today.
