Seeing the picture of the '33 or '34 Packard coupe reminds me--abouto 20 years ago, when we were living in Baltimore, I was driving up to Hershey for the big swap meet, running about 65 on the Interstate in a Ford Ranger pickup. A big Packard coupe just like the one posted above roared past me like I was stopped, had to be running 80 or better.
I know that green V12. Of course, I guess a lot of Auburn followers do. There aren't many of those around, and that one was often a fixture at ACD events. I remember talking to the owner at the Park in Auburn, IN. Geesh, now that I think about it, that was way back in the 1980s.
Dad is currently rebuilding the engine in that one. It's original paint. It recently came from Canada, but was in Oklahoma before that. It was at Glen Prey's in the 70s. Dad just found a sale bill in it from OK in 1941 and a match book from AR. We're hoping to make the ACD meet this year. Fingers crossed.
Never noticed before this thread.... these 2 Buicks do not have the typical splash apron above the running boards, like the 35 Buick posted by Rocky. Can you explain? Certainly changes the look
Strangely enough, the top is FIXED in place to Look like a convertible. It even has the cross bracing and brackets in place to make it look as if it works. The car was originally built for George Whittell, who among other things has the distinction of owning more NEW Duesenbergs than anyone else. ever. (six) I will let you search up on him, it's a crazy story. The car above, as pictured sold for 10.3M a few years ago after a Beautiful restoration. Way back, a long time ago, I was able to drive this car when it was still in original condition. (no cell phones then for easy pics- sorry)
