Can you take a closer picture of the texture of the top material? Looks pretty cool to me!! One thing I see- I would paint the snaps black. Everything else is right on!!

I did not think of painting the snaps.. That's a good idea! Since I painted the other clamp nut things black..

The upholstery guy said its called cobra texture I guess... It's pretty close to what was on it when I got it and I believe it to be the original style texture

Looks great. I agree on the snaps. That fellow did a great job. Nice and tight. Sides have a great shape to them.
I'd like to see a slightly smaller back window.
Your tire and wheel spacing is just perfect.

Yeah hope to get back up there soon and get another section made. Dropped off the wire wheels at the blasters this morning so I can get them powder coated.. The 700x18s fill the rear fender up a little better, but also need to get a new rear spring made so hopefully that doesn't change a lot

    Small update for now..

Finally found a rear piece for my 59a two piece oil pan. Was posted on a flathead group on Facebook when the guy got it in a bunch of parts not knowing what it was.. Was able to buy it and another guy said he had one also he wasn't using.. So now I have 2 :)

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468769881.418317.jpg

Was having an issue with the truck starting.. Would start fine cold and seem to run down the road just fine also.. But once shut off it wouldn't start again till the motor cooled back down.. Goofed with it for a few evenings and with some help of some guys on that same flathead group on Facebook we got it figured out..

Ended up being a bad coil. Must have been giving weak spark all along cause after swapping it the truck starts way easier cold and starts nice hot and seems to run smoother also.

Had it mounted in the original upside down position on the firewall to test the fix.. But msd instructions said it was advised to mount upright.. So I moved it inside and mounted it to the firewall. Kinda nice to have almost everything off the firewall outside.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468770060.206221.jpg

Looked up a rear window on macs antique auto and cut out some vinyl to figure out if that size would work. I think it will be ok.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468770874.008626.jpg

Next I needed to attach the gravel pan I made awhile back... Figured while I was doing that I would mount a fog light back on since I put one on it when I first bought it and the guy i ran around with who passed away ran one on his 32 and I bought this one at Hershey when he took me along.

Needed to weld in some bungs for the gravel pan.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468770336.646086.jpg

Next was cutting up and making the fog light mount work.. Funny how boxing a frame causes so much more work..

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468770427.343480.jpg

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468770446.381813.jpg

Didn't like how high it set so took a little bit out of the stand

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468770513.846929.jpg

Made a few more bungs and did the same thing for the light as I did for the gravel pan.. It put up a fight and broke a tap off inside after I had already welded it in. So had to redo one.. But got it mounted in the end.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1468770618.470739.jpg

Went to a local show on Saturday for fun and to see if any issues came up.

Always wanted to stop by this old library in town and take some pics.. Will go back again after I get it all finished up.

Two questions. Your planned window size the size of the piece of orange? If so
I'd suggest alittle longer but the height looks great.
Another, that's a long distance for your coil, are you running an Msd ignition?

The orange is just what the measurements of a window from macs antique auto was.. So I'm guessing it would be stock height/width.. I

ordered one this morning and have to see what it looks like when it shows up. Could always been cut and lengthened if need be

Is a Mallory electronic distributor that's in it. I'm guessing from where I had it in the original position to where it is now lengthened it by about 3".. Seems to be doing ok and starting a lot better.

I thought about putting it under the seat but kinda thought this far away would cause some issues

    Thanks!

Had a buddy that is way more knowledgeable on painting stuff look at it on Saturday to get a game plan.. I'm not gonna do much but primer things till after the bonneville trip..

Now I have to figure out if I want to go gloss, semi gloss, or satin finish..

The rain from when I had it out in the funeral was starting to really get on my nerves.. So planning on taking the truck to bonneville in August so I'm rushing to get things in order for that to make it look somewhat normal..

Using a rust treatment/converter that is supposed to also help protect the metal.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469303244.077742.jpg

Spraying a lacquer primer on the fenders and parts so the fenders and running boards will look somewhat normal.. Will sand it off as a guide coat when I get back.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469303343.309237.jpg

Used a tip I overheard one of the guys in the group talking about when I tried to clean up the headlight rings.. Some metal polish and tin foil to scrub it with. Worked pretty good
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469303420.564287.jpg

Took the truck up to the upholstery shop to have the center part and window redone... Was neat to stick around and watch the guy do it..

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469303509.540701.jpg

And much better the second time around..
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469303536.239332.jpg

Hope to have the rest of the stuff primered over this weekend so I can start putting it back together this week.. Bonneville will be here quick... Hope the weather holds out.

Thanks! It's a lot better size.. But i think I'm gonna have to take it somewhere else and see if they can tighten it up.. It will work for now but it's kinda bunched up around the edge of the window..

Goofing around and working late to try to get this thing ready for the trip out to bonneville.. unfortunately going to trailer it out but so many miles on something not quite finished does not sound fun.. Anyway progress in the last couple days..

Wanted to get the cowl section to be somewhat the same color.. Scuff and spray bomb primer.. Hated to but it's going to get blasted anyway..
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469804378.423113.jpg

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469804393.633279.jpg

Wanted to out the old motometer back on the shell, with the aluminum radiator that's an issue.. Have some round plastic from work that I run through the lathe so it would thread down into it.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469804036.578357.jpg

Turned it down to where it just had to be knocked in from the bottom and would stick.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469804245.191207.jpg

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469804283.845743.jpg

    Drilled holes and welded some
1/4" bolts to the shell to hold some screening. Also filled where the ford logo was at.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469804612.946166.jpg

Got busy and forgot to take pics but primed the shell, wheels and hood.. So I could start putting it back together.. Mostly finished up late last night.. Still some things to do and adjust but it looks like a truck again.
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1469804578.208459.jpg

The grey and black is kinda growing on me.. Planning on putting gas in it and welding up the bottom of the battery compartment just have tacked in place.

Might start a different thread for the trip out and cover the event like I did in 2012.

Finally nice to put some miles on it instead of just constantly working on it.. So far about 111 miles and no issues as of yet..

Rear spring needs to be redone as it has no spring left to it. Hope to get that taken care of after bonneville..

Finally last night got the lights wired back up.. One of the grease fittings won't take grease on the front so have to straighten that out and start packing clothes and stuff for the trip

What great pictures. I really like the looks of the two tone. This Sunday in Zoar having a small car show along with the Harvest festival. Drive up. I'd love to see it and meet you.
How's it running in this heat?

Thanks!! I'll try my best :)

The colors are starting to grow in me more and more..

Did get the wheels back from getting powder coated satin black.. So I wanted to toss them on.. Now after having the 40 wheels on for a good while I'm not sure which I like better the 40s or the wires

  24. The wires fit the build style. Either looks good. Change off as the mood strikes.

  25. I'm with Dean - I like the wires the best, but keep both, and change as you see fit (but I'm a wheel'oholic, counting sets of; 18" wires, 17" wires, 16" wires for restoration, 16" Willys (2x 4", 2x 4,5"), 16" '40 steelies (plus a spare) and 15" (2x stock, 2x reversed center)... most needs new tires!).

Okay well made the trip out and back.. Trailered the truck out and back which worked out pretty well.

Installed the key chain with my buddies ashes in it..
    IMG_1471751098.852637.jpg

Took off around 8am.. Kansas sky sure looks a lot nicer the ohio
    IMG_1471751161.064967.jpg

This become a very normal sight
    IMG_1471751230.549126.jpg

    And after a 14 a 12 then a 4 hour day we made it..

Had a blast and posted a ton of pictures in the other thread.. Came home and went to a localish show that always has a great bunch of traditional hotrods.. Called the spinout in brimfield ohio.

Didn't get a chance to get the salt cleaned off by then but it made it fun for people to see and some tasted the salt that was stuck to the under side of the fender..ended up getting the award for best pickup.. Which I was surprised cause there was a really really nice channeled 34 pickup.

Anyway I have started cleaning the underside of the truck..

Hopefully using that rust treatment will help keep the rust down from the salt.. Going to pop the front fenders and bed off tomorrow and really get them cleaned and treated again..

Nice! I must admit, I got to the end of the first page and thought " oh great, he's gonna trash the fenders. Ok, well, I'll just save time and go straight to the last page, check out the mess and move on."
What a pleasant surprise to find a nice looking, well proportioned full fendered RP! Now I have to go back and check out the rest of the pages...;):)

I am going to buck the trend here, I like the solids better than the wires.
