  1. I'd guess 1960-62. Maybe earlier.

  5. This is Tom Bryant's "Tom Thumb Special". Tom was in the Road Runners in the 60's. He ran this roadster at 1/4 and 1/2 mile drags, and El Mirage.

I guess Pro/Mods have kind of taken their place. They're pretty hairy but somehow not quite the same.

Mid to late 50's & very early 60's. It was about this time that Weiand came out with cast aluminum top mount blower manifolds. Before that, top mount blowers sat on home fabricated manifolds. A lot of the B-ville and Lakes cars stayed with the front mount for awhile. A little extra streamlining.

Someone asked a few pages back about what kind of engine? It's an Allison.

"Altereds" aren't dead, Fuel Altereds may be dead in modern, NHRA racing, but most National NHRA events have at least a couple Altereds in Comp. Eliminator.

Actually if the car had the front wheels on the ground the "dump" would be more obvious. It is Gary Cochran's Mr C big block Ford powered car.

    Read about it here: http://www.draglist.com/artman2/pub...s/The_Racing_Career_of_Gary_Cochran_271.shtml
