I did a few cosmetic changes: Very nice original 32 grill and shell. Original Guide 682-C headlights. I didn't want to fill in the filler hole, so a Brother Elk gave me an old br*** BPOE badge to cover the hole. I repurposed a hood clip for the trunk lid I removed the 39 banjo wheel and installed an old sprint car steering wheel wrapped in cloth tape and an old BPOE br*** door knob for the shifter.
Last weekend at LARS, a**** other things, I picked up a pair of '41 wheels and an old set of aviation tires, Goodyear 30x7 Airplane. The tires are made for 16 inch rims and were on a hot rod in another life. A little shorter than the 7.50x16s, but with a nice cross hatch pattern for traction in the sand and not heavy at all. They have stiff sidewalls and were a little tough to mount with my old school '40s tire machine. I could go all out and groove them. What do you think?
Probably the wrong thread to discuss this on, but I believe the racing will be way on the north end of the beach. It looks like they have rented the entire North Beach campground, so I think that is where the racing is going to be held. The 4x4 area is way to the south, you won't be able to see any racing from there. Take a look at Google maps and you'll what I mean. Take the hot rod, not the 4x4.
Yes the trog will be at the end of grand ave. in Grover beach. It will not be down in the off road area of the oceano dunes. Only hotrods will be aloud in the trog area. With that said this trog build is lookin cooler all the time I'm really digging the rear tires. Just let out some air down to about 15 psi and those should hook up real good. I can't wait to check this car out. Keep on keepin on and we will see ya there.
