Why no East Coast HAMB Chop

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Boones, Sep 3, 2003.

  1. not meaning to hijack the post but a FLORIDA SWAMP CHOP sounds killer to me- I could easily line up the shop in gainesville or make it to almost any other place

But back to the topic if it is in North Carolina I could probably make it- And my contribution would be beer, 2 grills, 4 coolers and LOTS of elbow grease- I also could take a zillion pictures and post them periodically as it happens - (new cell phone with unlimmited internet and a lap top)Just an idea but we could do a how to cd of the chop for a HAMB fundraiser

I'd be down to chop up some shit if it goes down in nc. Should get a couple of cars together to chop and have a "chop-off" so to speak. I too will bring ice colds and red meat.

  3. Count me in for beverages, food, digi-photo documentation and elbow grease. My welding skills, however, pretty much suck. [IMG]

Well, my Mid Novemeber, Rocket should be able to offer:

Tools, heated area (IF its cold), lift, Welders, Plasma Cutter, Possibly a paint booth, lots of room, great area for BB-Q, cool location (great for pics) and a general good attitude. It would be really fun for us since we wil have only have been at this location for about...ohh say...two weeks. We have internet and a will have a camera, so...

Also, we could arrange for some sleeping "quarters, if ya needed it and dont mind sleeping in a shop or two..lol

Jdee your car is perfect but it looks like it would be really hard to do. It's got compound curves out the ying yang. It would be a real challenge, but challenges are what make life worth living.
If we have it in my yard it would have to be in the rain free fall months.
    How big's your garage Jdee?
I'm sure I and my friends would love to get our greasy hands on that beauty.

  6. HOLD THE TRAIN!!!! Of course the HAMB SWAMP CHOP vehicle is my 51 Buick. Already have the rear window section from a 50ish Ford. But I think I would rather tuck the rear window in a bit instead of losing it. Spoke to HOTRODWALT a few days ago about my vehicle and one of the first things out of his mouth was, hmmmm, maybe a HAMB Chop or some sort of chop party.
    Lets do this shit !

  7. You have my help for swamp chop, I'm not smart, but I can lift heavy things. [IMG]

Nads, I got choprods helping me with the layout so I do have a good start. I hope to be cutting in the next two weeks
It should be fun. I just shot some Flake this morning, What a freaking mess [IMG] I think its going to take me a few weeks just to get it cleaned up. I look like a big fat tin man
with this crap all over me [IMG]
My gun would not shoot the flake so I layed down a coat of Clear and put the Flake in a Flocking gun and Shot it dry
I flaked the whole dam shop[IMG]

If I get stuck on this chop I'll give you a ring
    if thats ok...

May one spread them about 2 months apart so everyone can arrange travel time. I am will to go to either NC or FL for some car fun... Its damn boring here in SC.. might be able to drag FlamedAbone along, I know we had a blast cutting up his shoebox..

Seems like Switchblade teeth and his Buick look like prime candidates( you better keep your ass among the working class)
We could do it at my place.
Its been done before and I`m sure done again
(and we can even have Nads come over and pick up the 350 Chevy and the ford drums [IMG] HA )
After the Turkey run would be a good time.
    What do you think Justin?

  13. Instead of just a chop does anybody know SPUDZ? He's going through a tuff time right now. If he has a project car maybe we could get something done for him. Just a thaught!
The HAMBchop is all about doing it for someone who could really use the help.

Not givin up, just not seeing anybody STEPPING Up! In the case of the previous Chops somebody stood up and Said, "HEY I'm doin this!" So, it rather looks like we're just sittin around bullshittin and tellin stories here... I can't think of anywhere I'd rather make ANY excuse to tool off to for the weekend than NC! So, with Ryan's approval of course, do something... somebody make it happen. I'm in no position to host such a thing, but I'd be there with whatever I could lend to the project in a heartbeat if somebody steps up to the plate...

Why not a north east, mid atlantic and south east HAMB chop?
    NY, NC and Fla.
That way everyone could get in on the fun.

  19. We need a fool that is willing to let us do this. Nobody has stepped up with a car that needs done. Plenty have sais they would help and there's even a couple of places to do it. We just need a fool!!!

  20. Boones .... Who knows Spudz well enough to find out if he would want some help on one of his rides. It's too early to bug him now but in a month or two a little work on a car may help.

Here is an idea, how about an East coast Hamb Channel job East coast style.

  24. Moondisc.... Got a picture? What kind of shop do you have? Is the car drivable?

  25. MrRocket is stepping up with the facilities...new shop available in November? Whatever's gonna be chopped, I wanna help!!!

Several if's: IF Rocket's agreeable to using his shop (I don't think I have enough room for a buncha guys to work); and IF I qualify, as I'm not a young guy just getting started in old cars, anymore; and IF nobody's bugged by me asking somebody else to work free on my stuff; I'd like some skilled (and not so skilled) help on the '38...I just need to get the floors put in, so it'll be semi-solid enough to pull up there, and chop. Either a couple inches, or I had been pondering making a convertible (if anybody remembers the dual-cowl I drew from suggestions)...maybe we could have the HAMB East Coast Phantom Phaeton Phest!!!

    Thanks,
    Steve

I was thinking the same thing. Florida is definitely out of my travel radius - I've taken enough time off for car shows, drag races, etc. I wouldn't want to push things at work.

North Carolina might be possible, but still a long drive. I'm sure I'm not alone here.

At the risk of sounding cheesy and mainstream, why not an East Coast HAMBer Chop-off. Three groups chop three cars across the Eastern seaboard and see who has the most fun?

Maybe the Discovery Channel won't be interested, but I think we'd all have a good time.

No matter what comes of this, I think we North Easterners should all gat together and wrench on something (the channel job sounds cool).

Well, that's my two cents. I expect change. [IMG]
