  5. I would like to say I considered Judy Finkel but realized that is a woman's name so then I thought of William F. Buckley but that name was already taken so I thought William G. buckley but that wouldn't fly so the name Bob Maloogaloogaloogaloogalooga name to mind but I finally settled on HRP.

I actually stole this from Big Man on Campus, just because I laughed my arse off typing all the malooga's. HRP

  6. My 2nd stock car was a old clapped out 1969 Nova SS that me and my brother built in 1983 in 5 weeks. A used 396 fell into our hands which we freshened up. So it was billed by the announcers as a Nova SS 396 at Islip Speedway. I became known as bobss396 in the pits and it stuck.

  10. Well I know breaking rules here by posting pic of a "newer" car but GN N 60 is the license plate on my 67 GT500 so GNN60GT500....

Even though breaking rules talking about car this is probably one of only a few 100% garage restored (even painted in the garage) Shelbys out there....

Car actually has a pretty cool story to it...was owned originally by San Jose assembly plant manager....still has the 1967 San Jose plant executive parking permit on back .....

  14. Yeah, the name is stupid.
The story behind it is from being in the Navy. My first duty in my squadron was to be a "Plane Captain", kind of like a service station attendant (check the tires and fill the planes with fuel). When I first reported to the Line Shack (Plane Captain hang out), the guy in charge looked at my name and had a problem pronouncing it. So he called me "Beebing". What was funny is that he had a voice like Tattoo from Fantasy Island. If you can imagine that, it was hilarious.

  15. Well mine is a no brainer!:) Like me. CT= I live in Connecticut (don't hold that against me) 1932= the year of my cars. FORD= the make of my cars! Like I said a no brainer!:p

My grandfather was a shop teacher, and everyone in the school called him Mr. Mac- some of my students do the same... and everyone knows I'm just a displaced yankee down here :D

Usernames can be a huge pain in the ass if you are sitting there trying to come up with something and then the computer keeps telling you that the name you have chosen is already taken.

Mine started out quite some time ago.

Because blue is my favorite color over the years I have owned a succession of blue trucks and cars and motorcycles.

Whenever someone would ask which one was mine, the answer would be "the blue one". :D

So eventually when I started to join forums it seemed natural to use it.

At least the system never kept telling me that the name was used. :D

  24. Well, I'm Late to the Party, as usual. ;) My first car was a 1930 Model A Coupe I built from parts when I was 17 & 18 years old. I bought the body, frame, some fenders, and a '46 front end for $25, and I was off and running. While I have had many neat cars & trucks since then, I never had another REAL Hot Rod. So when I decided to rectify that shortcoming recently and began building only my second Hot Rod at age 70, I discovered the HAMB for the first time last November (2015). It didn't take long to discover that y'all had been at this Hot Rod thing for a long time, some of you for most of your lives. So when I signed up, it was obvious I was "Late to the Party" again. Better Late than never! :D

Here's my current build thread, in case you missed it: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/t-v8-build-thread.1011604/

Having read through this whole thread, I dont feel as bad about hating my username.

When I started lurking in 2004, I was in high school. I didnt sign up until 2006 when I finally had a old car on the road on a regular basis. I was freshly out of high school and had thought, "These forums and yahoo groups disapear all the time. These old guys will just quit coming here soon anyways, and the site will just dissapear, so my name wont matter anyways."

Now that a decade has passed and im no longer young and ever so slightly less poor I regret the name a fair amount. So thanks to Ryan and HRP and all you old school guys for continuing to post and love this site and keep it going and growing so I can be reminded daily to think before I dive into things, even things as simple as usernames lol

  28. LOL anyone who has cruised HWY 50 knows Lone Jack. it used to be the speed trap. When the speed limit was still 55 I hit it one night traveling from the south to KC @ 100+. I was about 3 sheets in the wind, and if the cop had the intestinal fortitude to chase me down he would have had a career making traffic stop. Instead he just sat there dumb founded. :D

Mine is more of a handle than a name, and it doesn't even apply at the moment as I sold my second Bandit a couple of weeks ago. I was thinking about painting my 34 black and adding gold stripes and a CB but I decided a shaker scoop on a blown flathead was just too much. The car in the photo is on her way to Miami in a transport trailer as we speak, she is literally south bound and down, loaded up and truckin.
