I fully agree and one of the reasons I subscribe to COLLECTIBLE AUTOMOBILE MAGAZINE is that they show the studio clays...I also find them fascinating and if something doesn't make it to one production car you may see the styling cues in others.....this is why todays jelly bean cars are so boring....I think ford blew it when the last run of T birds didn't have round taillights, a suggestion of a small fin, hooded headlights,etc....these are an example of what constitutes a "make" or brand of car....

fords had big round taillights, chevies had 6 or 4 "bullet" taillites, buicks had portholes and a big grinning grille, etc etc.......Lincoln tries a bit nowadays with the suggestion of a zephyr grille,or on some the suggestion of a 61 continental grille.......('cept it looks like an AMC concord...)...Chrysler 300's have a big open grille now....makes me think of a 57 300......

my old man needed a new car around 1992 ...he was driving an 89 crown vic.....when he looked at the then, new crown he said "they can't sell me this car simply because there's no chrome on the front end..." trademarking!!!! He drove the 89 til the day he died!!!!!

    all just my opinions.........whatev!!!

Any body got a count on the Coca Cola trucks? Can't seem them all on my phone. Don't have enough fingers and toes anyway.

"Tiny House" - good one, Nightmoves! :) My great aunt and her husband ran a tourist camp like this in the Wisconsin Dells area back in the 1930s and 40s - way before "Howard Johnson" made its debut!

My parents made dismal attempts at camping - loading the Stude up with a thousand pounds of surplus camp stoves, tents, and DDT mosquito repellent. Anyway, of all that misery, two good times stand out, and that was when they got desperate and rented a little place like that at "Green Gables" in Tawas City, Michigan.

There are still little ones like in that pic in De Tour MI, in the U.P. I will try to find a vintage pic of them.

    Good times!!!

  19. Here's a shot of the little cabins in DeTour MI. They've been there forever. Also a vintage shot of the ferry dock, which is the only means of getting to Drummond Island. Great place to visit!

  20. Also (you may figure out that I'm very much a pro Michigan guy) in DeTour, one couple bought the bow of a Great Lakes 40's era freighter, floated it up from the scrapping yard to DeTour, and are busy finishing it as their "cabin".

Easy to see from shore or road.

  23. 311.jpg This property is for sale. These little chain cabins will probably be history soon . {Sad.} Sorry the photos aren't old. More like a before and after. lol

  24. After I took this photo. They tore this down, and built a popeyes restaurant. That's why I take my grandson on these road trips. We make photo albums of each year. Sad to see this. Ron... 035.jpg

  26. I used to go to this movie theater in Bell, CA as a kid. I can't remember how many times I walked by it. I read it was demolished in the 80's.

I'd much rather hit a local diner then ANY chain restaurant. I drive through town looking for a diner with a bunch of pickup trucks in front. If the locals don't eat there I don't want to either.
