  2. Been contemplating this...... Mine is not auto related. Before I actually joined here, and was a lurker for a few years......
Everyone I Loved decided it was time to check out pretty much all at once. My user name come's from Metallica's St. Anger album from 2003. It was the way it was, and it pretty much nailed my mindset. Had to shut down for a long time, and re-group. I use it often in rememberance....:(

I got mine from my Dad's work experience. At the time he worked for a foundry "East Jordan Iron Works", they had a Model T dump truck that was used to haul slag away from the foundry and they stock piled it. Dad (Harry) drove so fast, they nicknamed him "HotRodHarry" and someone painted it on the door. Dad's been gone 30 years and I borrowed it from him. I added the number 2, cause apparently HotRodHarry was already taken.

  4. Years ago, when I worked at Oakland Pontiac Airport, I drove an airport dump truck all the way up there to pick up special cast field drains.

I think that name at one time was on 80% of all sewer, storm and utility manholes in the state.

After staying out of any kind of racing for quite a few years I caught the racing bug again in the 80's. This is when Legend Cars were being built in Charlotte, NC and we had a series starting in Fl. My car number was 47. I have had that name since I started back racing. Highlight of my Legends car racing was when I raced Pikes Peak in 1997.

When I joined, I had a '36 Dodge pickup that I'd dropped the lid on. I wanted the name Chopped Top but it was taken, had to go through many variations until I got the green light on this one.

Years ago, there was a guy in the CPSA we used to call "sofa king" he had a Chevy II with a sticker on the back that said " Sofa king fast". When I was at Deuce Days, there was a '37 Chevy coupe with a blown BB with a "Sofa King Speed and Custom" decal in the back window in the parking lot of the Royal Scott on Friday night. I was going to ask the owner about it, but we were heading out for dinner, and I never saw the car again.

Real nicknames are 'awarded', not self-proclaimed. My grandfather, just prior to coming here from Germany, sold the "Von" that preceded our surname.
Folks that precede their surnames with 'Von' aren't generally of Germanic ancestry, and have been found to be self-ordained.

I am from Finland and like hot rods,so my username is quite original:D
Actually i am into lot other stuff too, bikes, kustoms, art, tools, fabricating, mechanical stuff etc,so its not easy to label me as a car or bike guy.
I've noticed that most people from US cant spell finnish names,so its easier to use a username than my own.Well, our language is really tricky,so i dont blame anyone of mispelling.

Mine "Woodeye" came from a off color old, old Joke that had to do with a shy guy with a wooden eye and a girl with a hair-lip at a dance. My sick sense of humor found it to be funny. I also used it as a CB handle 40 plus years ago

  28. I had a big doings in my garage when I turned 40 in March of '73. I had chopped a '48 Chevy coupe for a friend that winter and his gift to me at the party was a Burma Shave sign that said:

    Tall Tops
    Flat Glass
    Charlie Chops
    A touch of Class

    Been Charlie Chops every since.....
