I was given these valve covers and I am not sure they're the correct year that I was told. Has anyone seen these before? I was told they were from a 1963 Corvette but I don't believe that to be true. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1470101377.361238.jpg

They are not original Corvette valve covers, they're aftermarket valve covers. As for when they were made...hard to say...is there a label on the box? is there some casting information on the inside of the valve covers? more pictures would help us help you figure it out, if you want.

@squirrel the only casting number inside is 719.

Well....they look a lot like the Weiand valve covers, but they could be a copy.

May have been ON a '63 Corvette, but definately are not Corvette valve covers. I kinda like the 327 decals on them though. My guess is late seventies/eighties era aftermarket.

They're Ansen valve covers...I believe they're still made. I would say those came out late 60s early 70s. I think Ansen also sold them wholesale to auto parts stores etc...they were sold in many places back then..

Saw the Weiand valve covers Squirrel talked about. Pretty sure Ansen made those....it's the identical cover to these with Weiand in the middle...they made the ones that said Pro Stock too....they also made OE stuff ..

Thanks for all the replies. Any idea what they're worth?

JMO, I think a c-note is high for these. I do like the decal, but you can get used M/T or 7 fin Corvettes for around $100, these just don't have the same level of desirability as those. At a c-note, I think these will hang on your wall for a long long time.

I had a set that were about the first "Made in Japan" valve covers I ever saw. They made them for big blocks too.

I like the sound of a C note. Couldn't find them when I searched the net.

Most people don't know they're Ansen valve covers....they're not marked inside so they won't be listed that way. I think $100 is a little rich for these....out here in Socal I see a few pairs of these at every swapmeet...normally $40- $65 or so....but if you're in the Midwest or East Coast you probably don't see these very often so the price might be higher...

I was gonna say around $50-$75, pretty close. They aren't old enough to be "traditional hot rod" friendly, and guys aren't really out there hunting for them.

If those are a C-note my gennie Cal Customs would have to be a C and 1/2. Just sayin, and we see at least 1 version of those at any Motorstate area swap meet. Right on about the different decals and Wieand versions, I think you could even get these at J.C. Penny in their auto depts.

$40-$70 around here I'd guess. Neat old V/Cs that aren't really uncommon, even in the Midwest. Interesting decal, never seen one.

Covers look like Cal Custom from 68 or later. Oil fill/breater dates it after 67.

They are even on the current Ansen website:rolleyes: not that that will matter, give it ten more posts and these will morph into original Chapparral magnesium valve covers....

The ford finned valve covers for 428cj's, '70 boss 302's, and '71 boss 351's. I need a set for a 351c I have, from what I have heard, if you contact Ansen by phone, you can even get the boss 302/351 ones with the original style plug wire looms riveted on.
I bet they also made the 429CJ/SCJ ones as well, but they dont have those on thier website.

Years ago I sold some valve covers to a guy that was a boss at Ansen...possibly THE boss at the time. One pair was an old block letter Weiand set for Olds and Studebaker. He was the guy that told me they produced many oem covers...this was right before they started selling them in earnest on Ebay...the guy if memory serves was married to Els Lohns daughter..

  26. Good answer..... I know where there's a stack of them w/out the sticker and that's been the happy price.
