Not totally sold on the beaks, but I'm gonna hold off judgment until the lens are in. But your craftsmanship is top notch! Very impressed with your attention to detail and vision.

I wasn't either at first. But man they make the car look cool! And thank you, I'm trying really hard.

Nice thing is, you can just cut them off if you don't like 'em. The metal work itself is the cool part for me.

Don't give up on Kool Rides just yet. I've bought emblems and mirrors from them.
I've seen them at a lot of weekend shows, not sure how they keep up if they have real jobs during the week. Just my 2 cents.

They're very cool, I'm pretty sure I like them. Can't wait to see the front.

I'm glad you stuck to your guns on that 56 lights. They are perfect on there. Any shots from the drivers side for a full on profile?

Likeing the beaks a lot. Not for all customs but work with your's very nicely. Any pictures of the firewall section? How will you treat the steering column angle etc?

I have to work on my subliminal message skills...;)

You are doing great work and I think I like it. I can't wait to see how it all ties together. If it is executed like the rest it'll be a keeper!

  15. I know they were gone for most of last week for the KKOA Spectacular in Salina. I've bought a fair amount of stuff from them lately, both in person and over the phone. You might give them a shout this week just to double check on the order....maybe they are just behind or could be the parts are out of stock and they are waiting on a shipment. Good folks, I'm sure they didn't just pocket the $ [emoji1]

And now they are probably at the Nats in Louisville. And don't listen to what anyone says you should or shouldn't do to your car, if you did listen you wouldn't be where you are now. Only you have the vision to know what the finished product will look like. Great work so far turning an ugly duckling into a swan.

Rytang - You've obviously got a better idea of what you're after, in your head, than the readers do (myself included).

I was wrong about the downward-angled taillights, I'll admit!

And I think you're really going in a great direction with the beaks. I'd love to see a profile view with the rear bumper re-installed. But I'm happy to wait until the new lenses arrive.

This is definitely a build worth following!

Does anyone know if there is a thread or something that shows how to install the lee lenses into 1956 chevy taillights? I'm kinda confused. Need help.

I know on my 54 chev lee lenses i had to use part of the stock lens to fill the gap around the perimeter. I have no idea about the 56 lights though. Good luck. The car is pretty rad

I have not personally done it but Scott Peavey who owns the candy cane 56 explained it to me. Just as the link above described it. Re locate the fuel filler and make your own reflectors/bulb holders. Good luck

  26. My 2 cents: I love it - the look of a long low custom!! My idea: you never mentioned hauling the offspring (if any) in the back seat so.....I think it would be cool to find another deck lid and extend it up to the back of the front seat! To get even wilder: maybe with your handy work you could make some sort of a 'rumble seat'. It could be made to unlatch & rotate when extra passenger space is needed and you could have a small hidden bench seat. With hidden hinges and latches it would look really smooth....and low.....and long :)

Waterfall between bucket seats, like an early Corvette.
