Does anyone know about these? I bought 4 double contact bulb holders. 2 for each side. I don't really know anything about them. I bought 4 double contact versus single contact. Or do I need the single contact? 20160804_175826.jpg

Double contact is for 1157 double filament bulb, one filament brighter than the other. Normally one for tail lights and the brighter one for brake lights/ turn signals. Single contact would be 1156 bulb.Single filament ,same brightnes as tailight. And you don't have two use both contacts of the double. In other words you could have two bulbs serving two purposes. One tailight and one for brake lights.

Thank you. So it sounds like I'm ok to continue building the housings with these 4, 1157s I got?

Yes, you can have four dim, bright or any combination. Put 12volts on them and you can decide what you like. BTW fantastic work! I call them visors!

I've been following your thread from the first day and I am amazed at the progress of your work. I don't normally reply to threads but just had to say great work so far!!! I love the creativity and that you continue doing your own thing regardless of what anyone else thinks.

  12. haha yea man i dig the beaks. Did you use something like 3/8" round rod to make the edges look smooth? Looks like great craftsmanship.

Yes sir. Built 2 identical frames with round stock, tacked em in place, then shaped some sheet metal.

I'll join the chorus. It's not my style of car, but damn you do great work, and you show amazing creativity. Keep it going, I'll be along for the ride, and enjoying every minute of it.

I wish I got them in. I spent all day coming up with a plan to get them in and mounted. Made templates and chased parts. I'll start again in the morning before the kids come home.

No photos again today... Spent all day making a bulb holder only to find out it won't work. I guess I'll try again tomorrow. 3rd times a charm right?

f-w-I-w; I like the idea of using all 4 sockets. That'll give you a lot more visibility to folks following you. AND, as a bonus if one bulb burns out you've still got both sides still working, just not quite as bright.

I must admit that I don't even care for customs, but I've been following this since your first post and really appreciate your skills and workmanship.

As others have said I'm anxiously awaiting the finished product and will continue to watch every day.

  27. I used those ones for my tail lights. They worked pretty good at first but now they're not grounding very well and my shit cuts out. I got pulled over last night for no tail lights. I have to wiggle them in my housing to get them to come back on. I dunno if the clips just got looser over time or what.

I was messing with mine today... They do seem cheap.

  29. Try soldering a separate grounding wire to the housings and find a good spot to ground the wire(s).
