I recently saw an after-market vintage Ford parts company offering a 5-blade replacement fan for 55 Fords. (as opposed to the factory 3-blade). Does anybody have first-hand experience with one? Worth it?
Doesn't look too hard to swap out. (Pull radiator, I ***ume.) Mato

A lot of the early TBird guys go with a 5 or 6 blade fan and it can help. Another thing that will help is a full shroud.

Do you have a source for 55 specific shrouds?

You might try Walker radiator in Tennessee. Not 55 specific, but they had different sizes that may work.

I always look for 7 blade clutch mopar fans at the pull it yards usually require a very little to adapt. Measure first to be sure you have enough clearance. Can't be best if it'll fit. Also found on cherokees.

I took another look at my (3-blade) fan to check clearance width for the addition of a shroud. It appears that the tips of the blades extend almost to the edge of the radiator itself. Does not appear to have room for a shroud based on how they're mounted. (Wire ties through the radiator?)
Maybe I'm missing something. A shroud would be an easier fix. Mato

Over the years when doing swaps we found early Mustang radiators to be a bolt-in swap in 1949-56 cars there are two sizes so check the measurements in this listing : http://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-1969-F...ash=item56880125ef:g:OGkAAMXQUmFSoN5p&vxp=mtr

Did you mean , "we found early Mustang SHROUDS to be a bolt-in swap"? I need to check measurements for mounting slots on the Ebay link one. Other than that, dimensions looked pretty good. M

The shrouds line up with the radiator mounting holes so it's a good fit as I remember a few said they elongated the holes slightly.
