This one has some very cool history and the flathead engine came from Ed Bignelli's Willys that was already posted in this thread. This coupe was bought by Erwin out of a field in 1961.

Here is the magazine article about it

Here is a video of it running now, I think that it has a small block Chevy in it.

Thanks for adding the link on the story of these cars. I used to watch them at Woodburn in the early 60's and also clearly remember Erwin's cousins Hans and Karl with their 1940 Ford and 1940 Willys. Both cars were the same red and almost looked to be brush painted. They were both quick cars however.

This was a friend of my dads out of the Denver area and the one that inspired his paint job. Dad also sold a 41 Willys coupe to one of his friends for $250

The Barnes Brothers '33 - campaigned in the sixties and still actively raced by the next generation. Northern Ohio car. The pearl white paint job has aged to a rich amber patina. SBC. D/G

That Barnes Brothers 33 is a very cool car and has a cool story too. I will see if I can dig up some more information on it.

DJCruser, I have never seen a model 77 Willys made into that kind of racecar. Do you have any idea what year this was?

I am thinking that this one was from the Same area as Jack Coonrod because he was a member of the Slo-Pokes car club?
